When it comes to firearms, York, Pennsylvania knows a thing or two about them. For over a century, the town's residents have worn T-shirts that proudly show off their latest acquisition – either an antique firearm or a new model from the manufacturer. In addition toWeapons of War Museum in downtown York, there are also several gunsmiths and dealers who specialize in restoring and repairing firearms. The town is also home to the local air rifle range where locals can compete against each other and others from surrounding towns. The town has seen many different types of firearms come and go over the years, but one which has remained constant is the pistol. pistols first started being manufactured in York in 1879 by John Cockerill and Son Ltd. The company was eventually bought by Colt Firearms Corporation in 1908. The Colt pistols which were produced here continued to be made until 1968 when they were replaced by the Glock handguns. Today, there are more than 25 businesses that sell guns in York including Rifle & Pistol Gallery, Ammunition Emporium, Gunshop USA #1 & 2 (both operated by Chris Hecker), Shotgun Unlimited Inc., Pistol Storage Annex #2 & 3 (both run by Rick Hagen), Ammo World (a reloading store) as well as several gunsmiths who specialise in restoring old Model 1873 revolvers and later models from this era such as Al Gasson of Pawn Shop fame and Don Ahern of NRA member Joe Hellinger Armsmiths fame. There is also a small museum located inside the Weapon of War Museum named after Scranton resident Harry Bemis which features firearms dating back to 1776 such as an American Revolution musket with bayonet!

The site where York now stands was a small village called Huntingdon that grew up around threshing floors on the banks of the Rhine River. In 1795, William Pitt founded Yorktown Heights as part of his push for independence from Great Britain. After British troops burned down much of Huntingdon during their evacuation in 1797, settlers began to move into what would become Yorktown Heights. In 1814, when Andrew Jackson became president of the United States, he ordered General James K. Polk to burn down all buildings within two miles (3 km) of Fort Pitt on Pittsburgh's South Side so that American forces could take control of that strategic fortification from Britain. As part of this order, General Polk also destroyed any evidence left behind by British soldiers about their military campaigns against Native Americans in this region over the preceding year or so. This event became known as "The Burning Of Pittsburgh." The popularity of handguns led to the development of rifles, and then shotguns, which led to the printing of firearms pamphlets and tracts promoting gun ownership and hunting. In 1873, Andrew Johnson became President of the United States, making t-shirt sales an important political tool. He believed that “a president should be above party politics” and ordered all government agencies to issue regulations prohibiting anyone from selling or wearing firearms without a license. This law was called the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. During World War II, many Americans spent their summers fighting in Europe as part of the military or NRA membership. T-shirt manufacturers turned out thousands of shirts carrying patriotic messages aboutAmerica’s involvement in war. After America entered into World WarIII, t-shirt sales began to decline because people had become more aware of what was happening abroad and did not feel like they needed to advertise their patriotism on clothing items. However, Army veteran groups continued manufacturing military t-shirts with slogans such as “I am an American Soldier” until after 1945 when guns were banned again throughout most of America

York is a city in the United States, and the seat of York County. The population was 53,871 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern border of Pennsylvania, bordered by West Chester to the south and east, and Lancaster to the north. The city is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The original name for York was Aliquippa (now Altoona). In 1795, Pennsylvanians voted on a proposal to change their name to Allegheny because they believed that this would represent both British and American ancestry equally. After much debate, it was decided that Allegheny would be more appropriate than Aliquippa due to its location on both sides of what is now known as the Monongahela River. In 1802, York became one of five cities in Pennsylvania authorized to issue banknotes. At first, notes were issued only for goods bought within town limits or for services rendered in town such as fire fighting or law enforcement. However, over time notes began being circulated beyond these boundaries as well. By 1825, all but one of Pennsylvania's fifty counties had issue banknotes from York City alone. During World War II, York played an important role in supporting military efforts throughout western Pennsylvania through its production of munitions and other items essential to war effort including aluminum cans and truck parts%.
