In 1851, parts ofNorthumberland and Cumberland Townships were combined with portions of Wyoming Township to form NorthumberLAND Township which would become known as Yorktown until 1960 when it reverted back to its original name for all municipalities within that township except for Southwick which continued to be called NorthumberLAND Township until 1984 when it became Southwick Borough. The first inhabitants of what is now York County were European natives who arrived by way of the Great Lakes region around 1000 AD; these people may have been farmers or hunters who traveled through this area on their way to trade with other cultures nearer home. By 1600 AD, groups of Algonquian-speaking Native Americans had settled hereabouts and began trading with Europeans. Trade between these groups and those along the Ohio River led to land speculation among some English settlers because they saw potential wealth available in this area if only enough land could be foundto develop properly – something that did not happen until later when large tracts sold off during western migration brought more settlers into this area without developing its natural resources. One group that played an important role in developing this region were entrepreneurs named John Daugherty and Isaac Roemer who founded two companies – one selling brush lime (a type of lime) while another operated a millinery store – both businesses being successful early on but eventually folded due largely to competition from better-funded rivals such as Philadelphia businessmen Thomas McNulty Jr., George Brownell Sr., James Beattie II (the brother-in-law of Pittsburgh Mayor David Lafferty), Anthony Comrie III (founder/owner/operator of several coffeehouses throughout central PA), Peter Cooper (founder/operator wagons fullof goods arriving at Monongahela Canal), Andrew Carnegie (founder/operatormultiple steel mills across southern PA) etc.; each man achieving significant success thanks largely to his investment capital - something that would continue throughout much northeastern Pennsylvania during this time period! This laid down foundation for future economic development including many factories erected over subsequent decades by various firms operating within specific industrial sectors including autos, textiles, rubber products etc… Allowing today’s residents access even todayto some excellent old neighborhoods like Midway Plz which are still quite vibrant despite recent setbacks faced by many residents overachieving economically while others have failed completely within our city limits❓ ————————————————————————————————–
