Today there are three Ammo factories left in town – Alliant Techsystems (formerly Alcoa), Brownells Inc., and Magpul Corporation – each responsible for manufacturing different types of firearms ammo including rifle rounds, pistol rounds, shotgun shells, and more. There are also smaller side streets filled with historical homes like Greenfield Road." As one commentator put it: "If there is anything quintessentially Pennsylvania Dutch it must be the love for horse racing - every street corner contains some paddock or track where thoroughbred horses race." In recent years much effort has been made to revive downtown districts such as Market Square which have been struggling since being abandoned during last decade's economic recession; however pockets of blight remain throughout most areas including Northside/Downtown Eastmoreland mall., Chinatown/North Side Strip District., Southside/South Park district., Shadysidekirk District., Midtown/University Area

York, Pennsylvania is a town in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,868 at the 2010 census. The town is the namesake of Yorktown Heights in New York City. The first people to arrive in what is now York County were the Lenape Native Americans. English colonists arrived in 1763 and founded a small settlement on the banks of the Susquehanna River near modern-day Yorktown. The settlers were farmers and traders who traded with the Lenape and other Native American groups. They built mills and churches in the area until 1817, when they abandoned their settlements and moved to new sites along the Susquehanna River. In 1824, John Forbes conducted an experiment which demonstrated how water could be used for irrigation without damaging crops or destroying forests. He named the stream Erie after his homeland England. In 1840, George Washington Harris became one of the first men to own land in what is now York County when he purchased 640 acres (2 km²) from Nicholas Pennoyer for $5 per acre ($/ha). Harris developed this land into a farmstead which he called Harrisburg Landing on Delaware Bayou. In 1848, James Sisson became one of the founders of Point State Park on Delaware Bayou near present-day Lancasterville. Sisson donated 5 acres (20 m²) of his land to create Point State Park; this parcel remained unoccupied until 1903 when it was annexed by Yorktown Heights as part of its annexation into New York City
