In 1911, five people were killed and thirteen injuries occurred when gunmen stormed into the house of an old woman in the town. In 1932, three people were killed and eleven injuries occurred when gunmen invaded the home of an old lady in Yeadon. In 1945, six people were killed and twenty-one injuries occurred when gunmen burst into the home of an elderly couple in Yeadon. The last shooting took place on December 6th, 1988 when two people were shot at close range outside their home while cooking dinner.

Yeadon is a town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. The first European settlers in what is now Yeadon were Scottish Presbyterians who established a small settlement on the north bank of the Susquehanna River in 1795. They called their village "Erie". The name was changed to Yeadon in 1802 when the area became part of the United States. In 1845, John Beattie donated land to build a school and two churches, oneMethodist and one Presbyterian. Beattie also donated money to purchase land for streets, parks and other public improvements. In 1870, farmers from nearby Reading relocated to Yeadon and began raising chickens and pigs there. By 1880, Yeadon had become known as "the Agricultural Capital of Pennsylvania". It continued as an agricultural center until World War II when manufacturing took over as the mainstay of the economy. After World War II, Yeadon saw growth in retail businesses such as Dollar General and K-Mart. Growth has slowed since 2000; however some new businesses have begun to emerge such as Wegmans Food Markets which opened in 2004 along with Allis Chalmers tractors which are headquartered here

Yeadon was a small town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. until the late 1800s it was known as "the rubber plantation of the anthracite coal fields". The town was founded by John Yeadon in 1798 and grew rapidly due to its position at the junction of two major transportation routes - the York Road and the Erie Canal. The first meeting of the township's first committee took place on October 26, 1798. The name of the town came from an old Scotch word meaning "a little village near a mill." Shortly after its founding, Yeadon became one of the principal economic engines in rural Berks County. In 1801, George Stephenson built his engine-powered locomotive called Locomotive No. 5 at Yeadon's mills; this event helped spur further development in Yeadon and other nearby towns. In 1828, John Dukes erected what is now called Dukes House as a stop on his long distance railroad line between Harrisburg and Buffalo NY. At that time it was one of only a few places along this route where passengers could rest before continuing their journey. During World War I, when much production stopped due to wartime restrictions on transportation supplies, many workers from Yeadon moved into different parts of America to find work during those difficult times. A number still remain today in various industries throughout Pennsylvania and New York City - some active members of their community organizations still reside here today!
The first English settlement in Yeadon was made in 1690 by Sir George Monbiot andSir James Rennie. The land was purchased from the Lenape people. In 1757, Yeadon became part of the Pennsylvania Colony. In 1776, it became a town. The town had a population of about 2,000 in 1800 and grew to 12,500 by 1820. In 1830, the town was renamed Erie after the river that forms its border with Michigan. In 1837, Erie was annexed by Pittsburgh and became part of that city's new district. Yeadon lost its status as a borough in 1907 but regained it in 1913 when Pittsburgh merged with York County to form Allegheny County.
