In 1845, in the town of Yeadon, Pennsylvania, John Brown and his men took up arms against the British. The event that started the American Revolution was fought in this town. Yeadon is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Yeadon is bordered by the Lehigh Valley to the south, and Westmoreland County to the west. The Susquehanna River forms much of its eastern border. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Yeadon were French traders who came from Canada in 1685 and 1686. Jesuit missionaries also visited this area around 1710-1711. In 1754, George Washington's army passed through Yeadon on their way to Khanawakee Battlefield where they fought against French forces led by Louisbourg commander General de Montcalm on July 10th, 1754. In 1853, when Pittsburgh was founded as a city, it annexed parts of Butler and Lawrence counties including Yeadon. In 1892, part of Butler County became Monroeville Township while most of Lawrence County became Donora Township which includes present day Northumberland and Parktown townships along the Susquehanna River. In 1951-1952 when sections of Beaver Falls Borough were annexed into nearby Oakmont Borough (now known as Meadville), some residents decided that they wanted their own borough so they formed "Beaver Falls Borough" with a charter dated November 15th 1951 under then Borough President Leo Weisman which included a mayor and five commissioners. On October 1st 1957 following an election with all members serving 3 year terms until being re-elected via secret ballot for another 3 year term; Beaver Falls Borough disbanded effective November 15th 1957 because it could no longer support itself without annexation from adjacent boroughs like Oakmont or Meadville which had already been done by then as well as lack of approval from our new City Councilmember Rusty Myers who desired annexation himself since he represented one half mile east side of South Monroeville Avenue within our boundaries! Annexation wasn't possible due to zoning regulations set forth by PA Board Of Zoning Appeals ruling that said any increase in population more than 25% over the existing population would be required for annexation even if there was no increase in crime or social services available within that proposed annexee’s borders! Consequently not only did Beaver Falls disband but also many homes and businesses in what used to be our downtown core were destroyed during those initial annexations making way for yet another established municipality just east of South Monroeville Avenue! Many current residents still remember those early days though fondly thanks especially to Rusty Myers who has always been very supportive & willing To help out his former constituents regardless of political affiliation whatsoever during these tough times!

Yeadon is a town in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,821 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre Metropolitan Statistical Area. Yeadon has a rich history that can be found throughout its community and township. The first residents of what would become Yeadon were farmers who settled there around 1800. By 1815, the village had been founded and named for General John Forbes Yeadon, who commanded British forces during the War of 1812. The name may have come from an area near where he lived on Canisteo Creek (now called South Mountain). In 1834, when the United States acquired land inLuzerne County from Great Britain, they decided to make Yeadon one of their new townships. This change gave rise to some confusion as people continued to call it Grantsville or Grants Township even though it was only 12 miles north of Scranton proper! In 1865-1866, local men built a sawmill on the banks of Schuylkill River which became one of the largest in central Pennsylvania. The mill stills operates today and produces lumber for buildings and other objects. During World War II many workers came to work at various munitions factories located in nearby Lackawanna City after being drafted into service by America’s allies countries such as England and France. Many residents lost their homes during this time due to bombing raids but continue living within the boundaries established by US government planners because they could not return home until AFTER everyone else had left! Some notable citizens include: Reverend Elias Howe (the first African American ordained minister in Luzerne County), Dr. Ira Stone (founder/director of Allentown Race Relations Center), Mrs Abraham Jaffe (founder/director of Jewish Community Center), Judge Milton Siegel (a member of Philadelphia City Council before becoming Chief Justice of Pennsylvania Supreme Court) and President Harry Truman when he served as Governor Of Pennsylvania between 1947-1951

Rockefeller and his brother, Milton. After being renamed for Milton in 1923, Yeadon became one of Pennsylvania's leading coal towns. The population grew rapidly during the 20th century, reaching over 100,000 by 1940. However, after World War II it declined dramatically due to closures of mines and other industries. In the 1970s and 1980s, Yeadon experienced a period of growth as new businesses came online and residents began moving back into the town.
