At its peak production it produced over 5 million pounds of cotton annually. Many people who lived and worked there include Andrew Carnegie, J.P Morgan and Franklin D Roosevelt. Belle Haven plantation was sold to George Pullman for $4 million in 1902 and pulled down during WWI because it couldn't compete with newly mechanized mills near Pittsburgh. Today only parts of it remain including some buildings that still stand along State Route 376 between Belle Haven Road and Spring Hill Drive near Parkersburg (). When General William Tecumseh Sherman advanced through Butler County during his winter campaign against General Robert E Lee in 1865-1866 he passed through Yeadon on his way northward towards Chambersburg ().
