Yeadon, Pennsylvania is a small town in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,711 as of the 2010 census. Yeadon is home to the Yeadon Forge Iron Works and other notable landmarks. The town was named for John Yeaston, a settler who arrived in 1753. The first post office was established at Yeadon in 1802. The first store opened at Yeadon Forge on Main Street in 1824. In 1840, Jno. Auchincloss built a gristmill here which became the largest flour mill in York County and one of the most important mills in America during the 19th century; it continued to be operated until 1951 by his son-in-law Henery Auchincloss II (1873–1966). The mill complex also includes a blacksmith shop and two grocery stores that were built around 1900. In 1861, David Ransom erected a large frame school house on School Road near present day Mt Holly Township for use as a public schoolhouse; it burned down in 1865 but was rebuilt and used as an academy from 1887 to 1915. In 1893, Revkin & Sons began operations of their own bakery at 608 N Main St., later moving to 516 N Main St., where they remain today. From 1902 through 1954 the general store operated under various names including "The General Store" and "The Peoples Store". In 1954 it became known as "Henery Auchincloss's." In 1928, local farmer George Sperry started an apple orchard adjacent to his farm on Cemetery Road east of present day Centerburg township (later part of East Mifflin Township). After years of hard work he produced over 100 acres (40 hectares) of apples and enjoyed excellent profits until he sold his land to Bethlehem Steel Corporation in 1966 for $1 million dollars ($102 million adjusted value today). Bethlehem Steel quickly developed heavy industry on Sperry's old orchard with major production facilities being constructed there such as this steel plant: what is now Mesquite Township served as its eastern edge from 1926 until 1962 when it was moved into Centreburg township because that area had become too rural for heavy industry development after being connected by new railroad tracksage

The town grew quickly due to the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825, which made it easy for goods to reach the area. In 1870, the post office was moved from its original location in the center of town to a more central location. In 1907, Yeadon had a population of just over 100 people and was one of the smaller towns on the east side of Pennsylvania. However, with development in nearby Lackawanna County and new factories opening up in Yeadon during World War II, the town began to grow numerically again. As of 2010, Yeadon has a population of over 900 people and is one of the largest communities on its eastern side.
