Yeadon is a small town in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 959 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Yeadon has a busy shopping district with several stores and restaurants. The original settlers in what is now Yeadon were farmers who located their farms on streams that emptied into the Monongahela River. They built log homes which theyathered from the earth using techniques learned from their Native American ancestors. In 1836, John Prentice built a sawmill in what is now Yeadon and started to process logs into lumber. By 1850, he had also built a gristmill and began to produce paper products such as pulpwood for printing newspapers and other documents. In 1851, James Hays founded Wabash & Erie Railroad at Yeadon and made it available for transportation of goods by railroads throughout Armstrong County. This allowed businesses to reach customers farther away and opened up new markets for agriculture in Yeadon and neighboring townships. The first store in what is now Yaeddon was opened by Abram French in 1855 under the name “French” Store No 1. The post office was established at Yaeddon on November 15, 1865, by George Fenton with headquarters located near present-day Second Avenue east of Third Street. In 1902, J Edgar Hoover served as postal inspector here until his retirement two years later; mail continued to be delivered here until 1923 when service was moved to nearby Connellsville due to railroad construction adjacent to the town square (now known as Park Square). In 1912, J C Boyle set up a bakery here which became one of Beaver Falls' most popular tourist attractions; it Continued operation until 1973 when it closed because of increased competition from more modern bakeries across the area .Today there are only three functioning buildings remaining from this era: The Bake Shop on Third Street between Main and Beaver Streets (now used as an art gallery), Boyle's Bakery on Fourth Street between Main and Beaver Streets (now used as apartments)and finally Community Bakery on Seventh Street between Beaversville Road East/West (now home of Monroe Township Historical Museum) where Boyle operated his business until his death in 1931 .All three structures still stand today except for Community Bakery which burned down in 1973

Yeadon is a small town in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,975 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first settler in Yeadon was Nicholas DeBenedict who arrived from England on December 12, 1751. He and his family were followed by John Lancaster and his family in 1753. The early settlers all came from the British Isles and brought their skills for farming, carpentry, and other trades with them when they moved to Pennsylvania. The name "Yeadon" was derived from the word yeden meaning "upper stream." When it was first mentioned in a deed dated March 16, 1798 by James Hildebrandt of Jefferson Township (now Bellefonte), it spelled "Yeadee". A later map of 1824 showed that the community had changed its name to "Yeadon" after Anthony Yeardley bought land there in 1814. Anthony Yeardley had been born in Ireland but emigrated to America around 1800. He settled near Bellefonte where he built a cabin and started trading with local farmers. In 1828 he sold his land to George Washington Dodge and began developing what is now known as Yeadon into an agricultural center with stockyards, a gristmill, barns/marinas, churches/synagogues, schools and more than fifty dwellings including two-story log homes which are still extant today. Dodge also founded the Pittsburgh Railroad which crossed Yeadon Creek on its way to downtown Pittsburgh through what is now called Riverview Park. The railroad killed several deer that were being hunted by Dodge's men so they could get their meat for food not just for themselves but also for sale to other businesses along the route! This event helped create some of today's most popular tourist attractions such as Monroeville Park which houses many exhibits about Dodge's life including locomotives preserved outside as well as a replica of Dodge's original house).
In 1881, the first railroad was built in Yeadon by the Erie Railroad. In 1915, the Pittsburgh and Reading Railway was built through Yeadon. The Pennsylvania Railroad came to Yeadon in 1920. That same year, the first electric locomotive was built in Yeadon. The steel industry started to come to Yeadon in the late 1930s, and factories were built near downtown. The population of Yeadon grew rapidly during World War II, as businesses were relocated to wartime production sites. After the war, many new businesses opened up in Yeadon, including a large grocery store and several movie theaters. In the 1970s and 1980s, Yeadon became a suburb of Pittsburgh; however, its growth has slowed since then.
