The first settler in Yeadon was David Nappan in 1786. The area that now makes up Yeadon was once part of Westmoreland County. In 1820, it became part of Lehigh County and remained so until 1920 when it became part of the new Pennsylvania statehood. The post office at Yeadon was established on December 12, 1847, and named for John Ayden Yeedom who had settled there in 1786. At one time there were over 100 businesses in Yeadon with a wide variety of industries including agriculture (19), manufacturing (8), transportation (5), retail trade (14), and service (3). During World War II, many factories closed due to war production restrictions but many others continued operating because they were required by the government or due to patriotic sentiment among their workers. Some examples include: Bendix Aircraft Company which manufactured bombers; Pfeiffer Glass Company which produced windows; Hormel Foods Corporation which made chili dogs; Whitney Rocketdyne Company which built rockets; and United States Steel Corporation which created blast furnaces for making steel products such as ships and autos. Yeadon also played an important role during the American Revolution as a supply stop on the Underground Railroad for runaway slaves escaping to freedom in Western Pennsylvania. From here they would be able to find passage across Canada before reaching Quebec City where they could cross into British North America free from slavery! In recent years, much progress has been made within Yeadons community including several stores being converted into restaurants/cafeterias and a library being renovated/added to the local mix providing more opportunities for cultural attractions within its boundaries as well as educational opportunities through nearby Westmoreland Valley Community College and East Stroudsburg University!

The first settler in Yeadon was Ephraim Yeadon who arrived in 1800. He and his wife Elizabethtown settled on the south bank of the Susquehanna River, about east of Philadelphia. They had two children: John and Sarah. John Yeadon became a justice of the peace and county commissioner in 1809. In 1811 he married Dinah Livingston from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. They had six children: Abraham (1812-1894), Isaac (1815-1892), Hannah (1817-1902), Levi (1800-1859), David (1799-1868) and Rachel (1800-1883). In 1814 Abraham married Sarah McLaughlin from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; they had one child: Rebecca McLaughlin Yeadon. Rebecca McLaughlin Yeedon became a teacher for many years before her death in 1922 at age 92%. She is buried at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Philadelphia with her parents and siblings Isaac, David, Rachel and John McClaughlin yeedon Sr..
Yeadon was founded in 1794 by John Yeadon and his wife Susannah. The town was named after the rapids near the town, which made it a place where engineers could test their inventions. In 1827, the first post office was established in Yeadon. The first Methodist church in the community was built in 1854. The population of Yeadon peaked at around 10,000 in 1880, but decreased to 6,500 by 1920. However, the town continued to grow and increase its commerce until the 1930s. Most of what is left of Yeadon today are social services agencies that provide housing for seniors and low-income residents and a few small businesses that still operate today.
