In 1800, Yeadon was a small village in Lancaster County. It was founded by German colonists who came to the area in the mid-1700s. The first settler, Johann Gottlieb Nitsch, built a cabin on the present-day site of Yeadon in 1799. By 1818, Yeadon had spawned a few other settlements and had become a small town. In 1867, it became part of the new Lancaster County and remained so until 1959 when it reverted back to its original borders.
