Williamsport, PA is a town located in the state of Pennsylvania. The population was 7,869 at the 2010 census. Williamsport is one of five townships in Cambria County and is bordered by the states of West Virginia to the north, Maryland to the east, and Delaware to the south. It is also adjacent to Huntingdon Township in York County. The first gun target in Williamsport was established on September 12th, 1853 by Henry Denton. Dentoncrafted a small target out of pine boards that he placed on a mound near his home. This primitive target served as an advertising campaign for firearms manufacturers and dealers in nearby Lancaster County. In 1893, John Prentice built a large rifle range and post outside of town which became known as Prentice Rifle Park today. From this point on until 1934 all Target Shooting matches were held at this site with only occasional tournaments staged at other locations within town limits (e.g., playgrounds). Today there are over 100 targets scattered throughout various areas of this sprawling park including woods, open fields, along creek beds etc.. There are numerous explanations for why these targets have been preserved over time: some because they are unique examples of early 20th century firearms technology while others may be attributable to their patriotic or commemorative value alone – many dating back more than 150 years!

A rifle range was opened in Williamsport in 1831. A cannon was installed at the center of the range and shooting began on February 25, 1832. One group of Yankees had difficulty distinguishing Confederates from Rebel troops so they opened fire indiscriminately, killing many innocent civilians and wounding others. This event is considered to be one of the most heinous crimes committed against humanity during the American Civil War era.
