The gun swivel, also known as a revolving arm or turret gun swivel, was an early piece of firearms technology. It was developed in the 17th century and used to rotate the barrels of cannons in order to get a better view of the target. In 1888–89, Lionel Colonna produced two variants: one chambered for 12 ga cartridges and another fitted with 50 rounds per clip pour les armes à feu de calibre déterminé (.577 Smith & Wesson cartridge). These were also erroneously referred to as "Colton revolvers". From 1889 until 1899 Black Eagle Arms operated out of Milwaukee County Armory in that city; after that facility closed production moved to White Sands Ammunition Plant in Hollisville Township, New Mexico Territory during World War I because its cornatee stock had failed catastrophically throughout most Of America due to over use & neglect
