Whitehall is a small town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Whitehall is part of the Reading Township. It is east of Harrisburg and west of Lancaster. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. The first white settlers in what would become Whitehall arrived in 1784 from Virginia. They built a log cabin on what is now Jolly Corner Road. The first post office was established here in 1814. By 1800, there were around 100 people living hereabouts; many worked in Johnstown as merchants or farmers while others operated shops and homes near their farmssteads. In 1824-25, James Doherty platted what became Whitehall with lots for $2 each (raised to $5 by 1829). He named it after his home state of New York; this being one of several schemes he developed during his long life as an entrepreneur and land speculator in central Pennsylvania (1824-1892). In 1828, when Congress created Washington County as part of its "New West" campaign to promote Ulysses S. Grant's election as President that year, Whitehall became one of its largest towns within that new county boundary - with over 2,000 residents! It rapidly grew into an agricultural center due to good soil and climate conditions; early crops included wheat, corn, oats and potatoes; later growth included fruits (appleseed), vegetables (carrots and beets), dairy products and lumber until WWII when manufacturing took over as most locally produced goods ceased production due to wartime restrictions on resources/production plants outside Philadelphia/Wilmington NJ etc.. Since the late 20th century various businesses have taken root in this town including KFC-Lancaster County's only drive thru restaurant since 1978 which remains open today providing local employment opportunities for locals & visitors alike...the latest addition being Bicknell's Pizza which opened December 15th 2016 @ 7pm

On March 15, 1907, Whitehall Heightsborough was renamed again to Whitehall Borough and remains so today. Whitehall is one of 10 municipalities in western Pennsylvania that are part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. As such, it has experienced significant economic growth over the years. In 2013, Whitehall's GDP totaled $35 million dollars and growing! Over the years there have been several local events which have helped promote tourism and cultural attractions in Whitehall including: The annual Bluegrass & BBQ Festival (held each September), The Pumpkin Carnival (a fall festival featuring arts and crafts), and Christmasfest (an event which celebrates all things Christmas).
