Whitehall, Pennsylvania was founded in 1795 by George Washington and is the oldest town in the United States. It is located on the Delaware River and has a population of over 11,000 people. The town was named after Whitehall, England which was first settled by English colonists in 1608.
Whitehall is a small town in the Midwestern United States. It is located in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on the Susquehanna River. The population was 3,694 at the 2010 census. Whitehall is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Whitehall was founded by Germans who arrived from Hanover and Pomerania in 1785. The first settler was Michael Hesselmark, who built a cabin on a bluff overlooking the Susquehanna River. By 1800, there were about thirty settlers living in Whitehall and surrounding areas. The first post office in Whitehall was established in 1807 and held until 1840. In 1829, John Ahern opened a store called "Ahern's Emporium" which became one of the largest stores in Butler County. In 1838, James Gorman erected a log cabin on what is now Huntingdon Road near present-day White Hall High School. Gorman became one of the earliest farmers in Whitehall and his land continues to be used for crops and livestock today. He also manufactured goods such as pottery and wagon parts from logs he collected during his farming efforts. In 1857, William Burch bought two hundred acres (120 hectares) of land east of present-day White Hall along Huntingdon Road from Gorman for $1 per acre (0·50 crowns). This area would become known as Burch Township and remain farmland until development began around 1960 when it became an all-purpose township with white housing subdivisions across its boundaries for various businesses including banks, shopping malls, schools and other government buildings that are still extant today within its borders! Burch Township continued to exist until 1967 when it merged with nearby Monroeville Township to form Monroeville Borough! Today many descendants of those original German settlers still reside within Monroeville Township!

Whitehall was founded in 1751 by the brothers James and John White. They were pioneers in the development of what is now Pennsylvania. The town was named for George Washington, who had been born in nearby Alexandria, Virginia. The Whitehsalls operated a gristmill on the Susquehanna River until 1824 when they built a larger mill on the opposite side of the river. They also developed land adjacent to present-day Whitehall and built several homes there. In 1853, they donated land to create a public square in front of their home which remains today as Market Square. In 1865, James & John White were inducted into the Pennsylvania State Senate from Cumberland County. Their son, Benjamin Franklin Whitehall became governor of Pennsylvania in 1889 and served two terms before dying in office at age 74 years old. His widow founded another whitehall-based business dynasty – the Haworth Paper Co.– which continued until 1972 when it merged with Wabash Paper Co., creating one of North America's largest paper companies.
