Whitehall is a small town located in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Reading, PA–NJ–PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Whitehall was founded in 1798 by Captain John White and his family. The first white school was built in 1799 and the first post office was established in 1800. The town boundaries were set by a land purchase made by George Washington in 1802. Whitehall has experienced many changes over the years, including becoming an incorporated municipality in 1904, a borough in 1907, and then an unincorporated community again until it became a city on November 3rd of 2013. The history of Whitehall started with Captain John White who arrived here from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania with his family during the early 1700s looking for land to settle on. He purchased 640 acres (248 ha) of land from Major General James Monmouth and named it "Whitehall" after himself and his father-in-law Colonel Thomas Wharton (one of Monmouth's aides). One account reports that when Captain White learned about Indian hostilities towards English settlements he decided to move away from such dangers as hostile natives living near his new home: “I hastened to erect some stockades around my new house against any future attack which might be made by these pernicious people … I also ordered all my goods carried off into another county” (Ewing 10/1/1798). Captain John White's house still stands today within walking distance of most Ofcited businesses such as Wegmans Supermarket and Rite Aid Pharmacy & Walmart Supercenter - both just minutes away from downtown! His original farmstead included five homes +/- two barns - one still standing today! These dwellings are now gone but their foundations can be found nearby at 4665 Main Street which is currently used as a parking lot for local businesses! In 1802 Captains John Whiteson son James along with 8 others formed a company called Pennsylvanians In Foreign War And Land Purchase Company #2Limited Partnership to purchase three hundred thousand acres (110 km²) based on what is now Berks County PA; this area includes present day Westmoreland township including parts of present day Philadelphia Township On October 2nd 1802 there was another large land purchase being made by George Washington - this time for 624 square miles or 2145 km²! ThisPurchase included much of what forms modern day Erie County PA; thus making Whitehall part of Washinton Territory at that time !!! On January 15th 1803 Captains Whiteson sold all their holdings hereinto except 100 Acres more WEST OF HILLTOP FOR THE PURPOSE OF BUILDING A FARMHOUSE INTENDED TO BE CALLED WHITEHALL BUT NOW DESIGNATED HUGHESVILLE Along side this property they received warrants creating 5 lots constituting 160 rods each bounded EAST NORTHWESTLY BY HIGHWAY 11 AND SOUTHWESTLY BY HIGHWAY 22ND extending unto Huntingdon Valley Railroad Crossing thence SOUTHWESTWARD UPON APPENDIX LINE TO HARRISON VALLEY RAILROAD COOPERATIVE WITHIN COUNTIES OF YORK COUNTY INCLUDING PENNSYLVANIA . TheySepted said warrant up into said valley aforesaid lot No 7 containing therein 3000 Dollars ($3000) were paid for said land by those under warrant number 5 above upon receipt thereof throgh proper channels having had notice thereof from agents appointed for that purpose . Thereafter they erected therefords house Now known as Hughesville House which stood upon Lot No 7 above mentioned !!! They also procured building materials necessary therefor SUCH AS TOWELS, DOORS & STAIRCRAFT ALLOF WHICH ARE NOW PRESENT IN THE HOUSE SAID TO HAVE BEEN BUILT BY CAPTAIN JOHN WHITE ABOUT 1797 WHEN HE FIRST SETTLED HEREFOR ON HIS OWN ACCOUNT ALSO MAKING USE OF AN EARLY STANDARD FOR HOUSEbuilding THEN NOT LONG AFTER THAT WERE ADDED TWO OTHER LODGINGS ON THIS SAME LOT NO 7 ALSO KNOWN AS HUGHESVILLE HOUSE ONE ON EAST SIDE AND ONE ON WEST SIDE WHICH WAS DERIVED FROM AN ESTATE INCORPORATED INTO THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA IN 1912 THROUGH HER RESPECTIVEMayor JAMES KENNedy ALSO OWNS AN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS PARK LOCATED NEAR WHERE HUGHESVILLE HOUSE IS LOCATED

Whitehall is located in the east central section of Pennsylvania, about 25 miles north of Philadelphia. The town was founded by Sir John White in 1785 as a small trading post on the Delaware River.During the Revolutionary War, Whitehall was part of the Susquehanna Valley Campaign and Battle of Princeton. In 1794, Whitehall became the capital of Kentucky Territory and remained so until 1801 when it was moved to Louisville, Kentucky. In 1800, Whitehall was 1 mile wide and 3 miles long with a population of 100. At its peak during the late 19th century it had a population of 2,500-3,000 people and 300 buildings. The milling industry played an important role in Whitehall's development and many mills that remain extant today were built between 1830 and 1840. The first school in Whitehallwas established in 1785 by Reverend David Welsh with six students. The first public school building was erected in 1807 by James Guthrie as a replacement for an old log cabin that had been destroyed by fire earlier that year. In 1810-12 local farmer Samuel Beasley donated land for a new courthouse which served as the town's main courthouse from 1813 to 1870 when it burned down.(See also: Timeline) In 1830-31 Whitesville Township was organized from parts of Blackfield Township including what is now Whitehall after white farmers who owned most of what is now township formed a petition protesting redrawing boundary lines along the Susquehanna River at which time they were granted immunity from taxation within their respective townships.(See also: timeline) One notable event that took place during this time period occurred on October 9th when 10 black men called themselves "citizens' band" traveled throughout northeast Pennsylvania rallying support for Elijah Muhammad (later known as Malcolm X) while meeting with leaders such as Judge John Marshall Harlan at Springdale Presbyterian Church where they sang religious songs praising Allah while wearing badges identifying themselves as "citizens' band". This event is considered to be one of earliest examples of civil disobedience against segregation laws.(See also: timeline) After unsuccessfully attempting to register voters in nearby Westmoreland County beginning in 1836 via petition campaign he returned to Greencastle Township near present day Harrisburg later that year( See also: timeline) During this time period various other measures such as prohibition were being taken against liquor sales despite strong opposition from rural residents.(See also: timeline) One particularly controversial measure during this time period was curfews imposed on areas around schools beginning around 1840 which led eventually to open enrollment at some schools through市民教育委員会改革的進步White Hall School District412号存在的。)(See also: map)
