Whitehall, Pennsylvania is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,653 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The borough was established on January 1, 1853 as a result of the fusion of two other municipalities: Whitehall Heights and Whitehall Township. Whitehall is located in central Pittsburgh and surrounds both Mellon Stadium (the home field of the Pittsburgh Steelers) and Forbes Park which includes one of the largest open-air shopping centers in North America. The borough has a rich history with many events taking place here such as Pittsburg State University's football game against Temple on November 5th iPittsburgh Bowl season rivalry game between Whitehall Township and Greenfield Borough taking place at Forbes park on October 25th each year. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Whitehall has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa". The first settler in what would become White Hall Township was Nicholas Swardt who arrived there from Transylvania in 1795. He built his cabin near present day intersection of Keystone Avenue and Brown Road east of what is now Mellon Stadium. Wm Hargrave also settled in this area early on and built a farmstead known as Harmony Hill about where present day Arlington Street meets Brown Road today. On February 26th 1853 David Morehouse moved his family to this location from Johnstown following their eviction from Johnstown by order of Colonel Robert MacKenzie during Indian Wars era for protesting US military actions which had taken place just prior to their arrival in what would become White Hall Township A few months later on March 3rd1853 Charles Laughlin arrived from Vermont via Lawrenceville with his family settling near present day Valley Forge Road west of McKees Rocks Ferry Landing This area became known as Laughlin’s Field after him In 1881 Samuel Fenton platted what would become Malone Square adjacent to Laughlin’s Field . It wasn't until 1906 when Longmont businessman Milton Goldsmith decided to make an investment within what would eventually be called Malone Square that development began around current day Greenfield Boulevard/Allegheny Avenue location inside the former Westinghouse Electric Company factory complex . Todayadays most activity takes place along Greenfield Ave corridor within walking distance or car ride away from all major shopping centers including PNC Park/Hershey Park district Headquarters/Mall Of America District Office & more…making it easy for residents to get outside activities started throughout most seasons

Whitehall is a small borough in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on the Susquehanna River, about northeast of Harrisburg and east of York. The borough was founded in 1759 by John Armstrong and others as an agricultural village on the north side of the Susquehanna. Whitehall was part of Cumberland County until 1813 when it became part of Bedford County. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. The first settlers in Whitehall were Armstrong and his family who arrived from Scotland in 1759. They founded a small farm on what is now West Main Street, near where Armstrong's father had landed from packet boat two years earlier. In 1768, Armstrong married Deborah Chambers and they started a home-based bakery called "The Chambers Bakery". They also operated a wagonwheel gristmill that produced flour for local marketplaces but stopped operations around 1800 because of difficulties with water availability. In 1769, John Armstrong Jr., son of John Armstrong Sr., moved to Whitehall from Cumberland Township to become its first postmaster. He did not succeed his father as postmaster but served continuously until he died in 1813 (aged 70). DuringArmstrong's tenure as postmaster, Whitehall began to grow rapidly according to reports written at the time: "A few weeks ago I rode over some miles...I found it has increased about three hundred inhabitants since my last visit." According to one account written by Judge George Simpson during a court hearing early in 19th century: "The place [Whitehall] formerly consisted only of a handful of houses scattered among various fields; now there are several blocks orsquare buildings erected upon high ground commanding views over all parts surrounding them." "White Hall", which stands today on what once were Armstrong's original land grants along with other parcels donated by other landowners through surveys dating back to 1697-1702 inclusive, likely originated when Captain James Cook visited nearby Cumberland Township while exploring North America sometime between October 13th and November 2nd , 1766/67 while aboard HMS Resolution under Captains James Cook(D), Edward Moseley(M) and Hugh Glassbine[G]. Upon landfall at Cape May Point (now Peninsula Heights), New JerseyCaptain Cook observed fresh native shores stretching into Delaware Bay before continuing southwestward towards Philadelphia Harbor whereupon he discovered Mount Vernon - one mile off shore - lay hidden within apparent shoals! This remarkable discovery provided new justification for royal procurement activities undertaken pursuant to Royal Warrant No.(2) dated November 8th , 1766/67 authorizing establishment-- subject to Admiralty Board Approval--of Naval Forces destined `to surveil & protect our coasts against incursions by French Pirates' notwithstanding objections raised by Lords Commissioners! Aboard Resolution Captain Cook landed his party including First Lieutenant William Bligh(B) commandant Third Rate Brigantine Diana` commanded by Second lieutenant Samuel Lewes{L} both natives & British subjects then resident within this Colony...the landing being made without firing any guns except those used for launching their canoes...the whole company disembarked hereabouts including 3 large dogs which accompanied the officers ashore... warrant dated January 15th next following grant[d] authority for erection hereof military barracks etc...."It should be noted that given that these events took place more than 175 years after Plymouth Harbor had been abandoned due To flooding caused primarily by Hurricane Amos however many items still visible below water including "...some beautiful old Dutch churches near Loch Raven whereabout 30 families resided..." are eerily similar descriptions given nearly 50 years later circa 1960s - 1970s white suburban development redevelopment taking place just upstreamliterally right across busy commercial center area now known asPennsylvania State Universitywhich would have Destruction archaeologistsJane Mayer recently wrote an article entitled,"Whitewall Revisited?", discussing current archaeological research disclosing significant layers remaining beneath developing Penn State campus area
