Waynesboro is a small town in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, located in Northampton County. As of the 2010 census, Waynesboro had a population of 5,819. The name "Waynesboro" was first applied to the town by General John Forbes in 1792 and derives from an Indian word meaning "place where the way leads." The land which now makes up Waynesboro was first settled by French Canadians in 1682 as part of the Fort Pitt settlement. In 1792, General John Forbes assigned 200 acres (80 hectares) to James McIntosh and 100 acres (40 hectares) to Abraham Wood for use as a township. The area around present-day Waynesboro became known as McIntosh Township when that family bought it from George Washington in 1814. In 1868, following the decision of the United States Supreme Court regarding slavery under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, Waynesboro voted not to ratify it. A few years later, on July 1, 1870, this vote resulted in one hundred fifty acres (30 hectares) becoming part of what is now Westmoreland Township when that township was created from portions of McIntosh and Woodtown Twps.. On November 2nd 1895 during a general election held for all defined townships within Northampton County following passage by referendum of another referendum authorizing liquor sales within those townships only at stores open seven days per week through December 15th++,-,-,- Waynesboro voters approved ordinance No 746 providing for Sunday liquor sales throughout their township beginning December 15th++,-,-,- On January 8th 1898 residents organized into societies with names such as "The Masonic Lodge #3", "The Baptist Church #1", "The Methodist Episcopal Church #2" and so forth to carry on various activities associated with their respective religious denominations while they awaited resolution pending before Philadelphia's Board Of Elections allowing them formal organization into municipalities pursuant to Act No 268 Of 1899; this Resolution never arrived until after World War I began when these organizations were reorganized under act No 353 Of 1915 which provided: That each society formed an incorporation with full corporate power including right to sue any person or body corporate then existing or hereafter established within its limits; This act gave effect to resolutions passed by individual societies prior theretomerely recognizing their organizational standing rather than formally organizing them into municipalities pursuant to Act no 268 Of 1899.,.-.-.-

Waynesboro was founded by James Waynes in 1795. The town became a borough in 1847 and then a city in 1898. In 1925, the city of Waynesboro merged with the borough to form the current city of Waynesboro-Borough. The population of the city was 73,829 as of 2010. The first settler in Waynesboro was James Waynes who arrived in 1795 from Delaware. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it Wayesville. A few years later he moved his family to what is now Park Avenue and started trading goods with other settlers across the Susquehanna River. By 1800, James had married into a family that controlled much of southeastern Pennsylvania including present-dayWaynesboro. In 1802, Thomas Lawton purchased land east of where modern Daylane Boulevard stands and began building a house called “The Oaks” which still stands today on School Road near Center Pointe Middle School). In 1807, John Hargrave bought land west of where present-day State Route 309 crosses Valley Forge Creek and built another house also known as “The Oaks” which still stands today on Old Main Street between US Highway 921 and US Highway 11 (now Homecoming Drive). In 1819, George Washington Carver arrived at Spottsylvania County Airport intending to start an agricultural experiment station but found no one living or gardening there so he turned back home instead and returned two months later with five acres (2 km²) for himself along School Road just east of where Modern Daylane Boulevard now meets Valley Forge Creek. He named his farm after President Washington who visited Carver's farm earlier that year during a trip through PA from Philadelphia to Harrisburg on October 3rd . A few years later Abraham Lincoln came through PA during his election campaign campaigning tour on November 6th Railroad Station Square when he stopped at Carver's farm for lunch before continuing north on Market Street to Yorktown Hall etc., carriages pulling wagons carrying refreshments stopped at various points along the route while passengers got off to buy newspapers etc.: One such stop was at Spottsylvania County Airport which served as an early polling place for local township elections.. That day many people remember because several planes serving Penn Central Airways crashed nearby killing all twenty four crew members aboard when their jetliner took off from Pittsburgh International Airport shortly after 12pm EST having been delayed by foggy weather conditions enroute from Newark Liberty International Airport..Carver decided then & there not to open his experimental station after all! Instead he donated all our acreage back to us - making way for what we have today! From these humble beginnings we have grown into one OF AMERICA'S MOST DANGEROUS CITIES! With over 784 thousand residents according as of 2015 census data WAYNESBORO IS NOW ONE OF THE GREATEST CITIES FOR BUSINESS IN CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA!
