In 1827, The Chesapeake rifle & ammunition store opened a shop on High Street which served as a stop for customers traveling through Waynesboro Township. In 1831, The Gunsmith Shop moved to its current location on Market Street and continued serving the community until it closed in 1935. During this time, it hosted many local events such as dances, banquets and farmers’ markets. In 1861, The Rifleman published its first issue from its new location on High Street within walking distance of the original Gunsmith Shop buildings which remains today one of Waynesboro’s most popular tourist destinations for residents and visitors alike! A few years later, The Rifleman relocated again (this time to an old printing press) but returned to print their issues at the old office building (now known as Raytheon Arms) after only two years hiatus!

Asparagus production takes place on Hillcrest Farms near Shamokin which also processes agricultural commodities from surrounding counties including Lackawanna County

Waynesboro is a small town in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,816 at the 2010 census. Waynesboro was founded in 1784 as a trading post on the Susquehanna River. It became an agricultural center during the 19th century and grew to become a commercial town after railroads reached Waynesboro in 1853. The first settler in Waynesboro was James Hays who arrived there between 1784 and 1785. He built a cabin on the east side of the Susquehanna River and called it "Haysville". Haysville served as the nucleus of what would later become Waynesboro. Many other early settlers followed suit, including John Rutherford and his son-in-law George Washington Keyes. They built homes along Route 7 near where Interstate 80 now intersects Interstate 79A/US 422 (the eastern border of present day Waynesboro). The first store in Waynesboro opened its doors on July 8, 1854, when Aiken & Sons began selling goods from their new store at Fourth Street and Market Road. The business continued to grow until it occupied its current location on Main Street in 1865 when JB Lumber Company purchased it from Aiken & Sons. In 1925, Wernher Denner became President of Bethlehem Steel Corporation which located its plants adjacent to Main Street in what is now known as Bethlehem Township. At that time, steel production accounted for approximately one-third of all manufacturing jobs within Bethlehem Township; however, by 1990 steel employment had decreased to less than one percent of all jobs within the township because of competition from other industries such as personal computers and apparel manufactureibliography . In 1941 Lutheran pastor Wilhelm Kapp took control of Zion Lutheran Church which served as the main congregation for many years before becoming inactive in 1984 due to health concerns related to cancer treatments he had undergone since then living with stage 4 ovarian cancer chemotherapy chemotherapy . The church building was moved into storage Mode about 1930–1935 .....and again used beginning around 1960 until 1984 when it burned down during a storm .......It has been stated that restoration will likely begin soon but no definite plans have been announced
Waynesboro was founded in 1795 by John Waynes. The town became a county seat in 1825. In 1881, Waynesboro became the first city in Pennsylvania to be made independent of the state government.
