Waynesboro is a small town in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The population was 9,908 at the 2010 census. Waynesboro is one of five townships in Butler County and is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. It lies along the Susquehanna River and has a total area of 26 square miles (72 km2). The first settler in Waynesboro was David Wayner, who arrived there on November 25, 1784, with his family from Yorktown Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He named his land "Wayne's Valley". In 1810–1811, Joshua Hays founded what became known as Haysville after himself and others associated with that settlement. In 1822-23 Abraham Davis built a log cabin on what is now Main Street in Waynesboro for himself and his two wives. In 1824 he erected a large frame house on this site which he called "The White House". On July 4th, 1830 James Weimer moved from Yorktown to Waynesboro with his wife Sarah to start a new life after years away from their home in Yorktown Township where they had liveschooled their children together since age 5 or 6; they were among the last settlers to arrive in what would become Waynesboro Borough only two weeks before its incorporation into Butler County on October 1st 1830 having no other choice but due to an act of Congress creating these areas as baronies within Butler County when it was created out of parts of Montgomery and Bucks Counties following the American Civil War On December 12th 1830 Isaac Swaren settled east of present day Route 10 between Swedesburg and Lebanon under permission from John Brown while both men were fugitive slaves escaping to freedom across the Delaware River near West Rochester NY; upon reaching Pennsylvanian soil encountered difficulties joining forces with any other white people so chose instead live among Native Americans until finally being captured by militia about four miles southwest of Swedesburg during raids conducted by General Nathan Bedford Forrest during Indian Wars era – remaining imprisoned until sold back into slavery January 11th 1861 Confederate Private Andrew Stout freed him December 15th 1863 also becoming one less Confederates living free west side Lancaster NJ Waynesboro may have been named after David Wayne who landed thereNovember 25 1784

Waynesboro is a small, rural town located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The population was 5,821 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle–York metropolitan area. Waynesboro is one of 17 townships in York County and has a total area of 3.2 square miles (9 km²). The township core lies within the limits of present-day Waynesboro Borough. The Township was first settled in 1784 by George Washington and his family on land granted to him by Colonel John Forbes Jr. before they were transferred to York County as part of the Treaty of Paris following the Battle of Saratoga. On July 12, 1814, when Washington's Mount Vernon home burned down and most all his possessions were lost, he left everything he owned including a house and land in Waynesboro with instructions that it be sold for $5 per acre to anyone who could show evidence that he had used it for military purposes during any war between Great Britain and America since 1775 even if he had not been born there or lived there continuously for more than five years immediately prior to that date! After Washington's death in 1800, his son George Washington Sr., continued living at Mount Vernon until 1827 when he moved out permanently because Congress refused to give him an allowance for living expenses while still living at home with his mother! Afterward only occasional visits were made to Mount Vernon until 1862 when President Abraham Lincoln moved into Executive Mansion #1 on Capitol Hill which remain as our current White House complex! In 1850s nearby Cadiz completed construction on what became known as "the biggest steamboat ever built" - she started her maiden voyage from Camden Landing just north of Waynesboro Ferry Landing on October 27th 1850 headed up the Susquehanna River Toward Pittsburgh but due to bad weather turned back near Wescottville Landing whereupon she reached her destination safely about midnight on November 2nd after covering 4500 miles nonstop! Waynesboro also saw some major events during this time includes: On May 6th 1861 David Saylor led 150 men from Waynesboro against around 200 militia from Lancaster County who besieged their homes throughout early morning hours resulting in six people dead including Sergeant John Pugh killed point blank outside his door after refusing orders not TO fire upon retreating Hessians; On December 1st 1861 a group composed mostly Of Germans from wayne post attacked several families along Tryon Road & looted their houses resultant In four people dead & three injured; In 1865 two brothers working together - Alpheus Crouse (1846-1925) & Julius Caesar Crouse (1849-1925) - began operating a small grocery store up Main Street which became well known throughout Lancaster County becoming one of its earliest successful businesses; When Drury Lane Plantation was acquired by United States government in 1863 it became known as West Point Prison Farm providing inmates with hay rations, Nursery School classes & other necessary inmate amenities such as plumbing, heating & laundry facilities etc.; In 1895 Mrs. Gertrude Waller donated over thirty acres (120 m²) surrounding her old millstream farmhouse now known as Wallerown Manor complete with twelve large gardens unique feature being 10 original trees planted there originally dating back to 1692!! In addition many other impressive features such as an attic/landingway leading directly up to 50' high gables surrounded by lawn giving plenty room for horse or carriages side by side; .................
Waynesboro was founded in 1781 by John Waynes. The town was named for Colonel George Washington, who had served in the American Revolution. Waynesboro became a borough in 1868 and then a city in 1907.
