On July 15th, 1770, Forbes submitted a plat for what would become known as "New Bethlehem". New Bethlehem later became part of Philadelphia following its incorporation into that city on November 3rd., 1802. The original village site Atterbury was located on top of Hill 875 about five miles west northwest of wherepresent day Pennsylania State University stands today adjacent to Chambersburg Borough Park

This grant helped make Washington the site of what is now known as Penn's Landing where passengers disembarked before continuing on their journey across the river to Pittsburgh or other destinations
