The first criminal use of firearms in the United States took place on April 14, 1775, when George Washington and a small band of rebels used pistols to shoot at British troops who had landed on Philadelphia’s docks. The development and introduction into circulation of pistols led to the need for additional magazine capacity on rifles- something that rifle magazines were not able to provide at first. However, over time they became better at accommodating such needs by adding extra rounds or cards (later known as drums) beneath the loading dock mechanism so that rounds could be easily unloaded without havingto remove all the components from your firearm
