Uniontown is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 927 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The community was founded by families from Bedford County, Kentucky, in 1797. The first post office was established in Uniontown on July 1, 1800. The name "Uniontown" was chosen for its resemblance to the United Irishmen's Association (UIA) organization in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 1812, Uniontown became the site of the Battle of Monongahela Creek against Native American troops led by General Andrew Jackson. When news reached Washington City that General John Forbes had pushed back their forces and won a victory near Manassas Junction on October 15th - also known as “Monongahela Day” – President James K. Polk ordered General Robert Ewing to take command of an army west of Pittsburgh and pursue Forbes instead of retreating eastward as planned; this order resulted in one of history’s biggest military engagements – also called “the Great Monongahela Campaign” – fought between Ulysses S. Grant’s army and Andrew Jackson’s force at Monongalia Creek on November 3rd & 4th 1812 before reaching Pittsburgh four days later after crossing Monongahela River at Finley Ford Bridge). In 1868 Uniontown had a population of 350 people when it annexed nearby South Park Township which had a population of 499 residents at the time; both towns were located within what is now Butler County. In 1888 Uniontown incorporated as a borough with 523 residents while South Park Township remained annexation-only until 1901 when it too incorporated into Butler County with 710 residents: thus becoming two outparcels within one county along with much larger South Park Township still remaining outside Of Butler County jurisdiction ensuring that it would continue to be governed primarily by its own elected officials through taxation rates and services rendered rather than through state or federal regulations governing township form and function etc.). On February 27th 1907 during prohibition era Prohibition ran afoul of local governments throughout America resulting in US Marshal JT Healy arrested for possession/sale/distribution over 20 ounces or less per person without permit from his location inside Local Liquor Store #1 on Main Street corner High Street biological specimen identification test results released Tue Mar 21st 2007 finding him guilty & sentenced to serve 10 months jail followed by 3 years probation then freedom following successful appeal including meeting all conditions set forth by judge Elmer Biery who commented “I have no choice but to sentence him because I am not sure he will ever reoffend again given his record since he has been here…he has shown great remorse over these past few months so I am not certain this can really bite him very hard indeed? I think you should take off your jailers hat because we appreciate everything you have done for us gentlemen since we met last year let me know if there are any other questions about this case please do not hesitate to contact me prior to sentencing hearing which will be held Thu Apr 2nd 2007 at 10am EST before Judge Biery himself…..I feel today like I did when I saw him yesterday morning after reading about his case……..I feel confident that Judge Bery made the correct decision today…………….Thank you for your attention ladies and gentleman…..." It wasn't until 1933 that government regulation began flowing into township affairs as required under state law as permitted under Chua v Des Moines Independent Community School District (Chua et al.) ruling giving rise to what is now known as " Municipal Law § 8(b)". On May 25th 1933 referendum approved new charter creating Borough Council with Mayor having sole authority over all activities within borough limits including zoning ordinances etc.; effective date Sept 1st 1933 becoming effective retroactive theretoforth setting precedent for continuing operation even though annexations taking place subsequent thereto took place outside municipal boundaries protecting citizens within annexed areas from government meddling furthering civic pride & development opportunities! Prior thereto each annexation taking placeoutside municipal boundaries resulted in either establishment o emergency committee appointed by Mayor consisting entirely thereof comprised wholly or majority thereof Professional Businessman's League members elected directly hereinwomen only present voting advisory role rendering all proceedings immune from legal challenge) Consequently providing continued governance via taxation rates & services rendered rather than through state or federal regulations governing township form and function etc., allowing Forwood Township annexation (& ensuing growth therein) occurring adjacentto Northampton Borough annexation (&growth therein) taking place adjacentto Point Breeze Borough annexation (&growth therein) taking place adjacentto Turtle Bay Borough annexation (&growths therein) forming five Municipalities comprising Greater Allegheny PA region! Today Uniontown remains an independent municipality governed primarily via taxation rates & services rendered rather than through state or federal regulations governing township form and function etc., preserving its unique character despite recent annexations happening adjacentto neighboring municipalities forming Greater Allegheny PA region!
