Uniontown is located in Union County, Pennsylvania. The town was founded in 1784 by Colonel John Forbes and his brother James. The first store was built on the corner of State Street and Main Street. In 1815, the town became a part of the United States of America and was renamed Philadelphia. Uniontown experienced some growth during its time as a US municipality but it declined after independence occurred. However, since then, Uniontown has regained some of its former glory through its many businesses and industries which have included manufacturing, transportation, retail shopping and even housing developments. The first inhabitants of Uniontown were Quakers who founded the town in 1788. In 1818, Confederate General Robert Eickhorn's brigade headquarters was quartered here and many of his officers and men took up temporary lodgings before moving on to Gettysburg. Uniontown became an important commercial center during the American Civil War because it had a large shipment depot for goods coming into and out of Pittsburgh. After the war ended, Uniontown experienced a period of growth as people poured into the area from surrounding counties to take advantage of new opportunities. The influx led to development around downtown and through much of its neighborhoods including Beavercreek Avenue (now known as Market Street), Butler Boulevard, Erie Boulevard, Elmwood Avenue (now York Street), Mount Pleasant Road (now Bluemont Drive), Ohio Street (now Waddington Place), Prospect Heights Drive (later renamed North Side Drive) and Vinegar Hill Road (later renamed West Side Drive). In recent years, Uniontown has been seeing a resurgence with several new businesses starting up along its streets such as arts & crafts store Paper World; health club/spa Regency Wellness; bar/restaurant Perennial; larger grocery store Shop-N-Save; and newly renovated housing developments like Meadowview Estates developed by real estate company CCM Partners LLC.. As more people move into Uniontown these days there are also more jobs available for those with some experience or skills in both business and engineering which has helped keep the economy strong over time. Uniontown is a small town in Pennsylvania, located in the Susquehanna River valley. The population was 4,851 at the 2010 census. Uniontown is part of the York County borough of York. The first settler in Uniontown was Nicholas Crouse and family who arrived in 1784. They were followed by George Washington Crouse who settled there in 1786. The first school was built in Uniontown on the corner of Delaware and Market Streets in 1802. In 1821, a gristmill and sawmill were built here and operated until 1869 when they were replaced by a flour mill and a creamery. The community's name comes from its location on the Susquehanna River, where many rafts carrying goods downriver stopped to be unloaded before making their way back upriver again. The river provided transportation for early settlers as well as water for mills which also produced lumbering products such as posts and fences. In 1844, Anthony Jugan erected the first store building near where present-day Route 422 meetsRoute 287; this structure still stands today (although it has been remodeled several times). In 1865, John Waddell established a blacksmith shop here which became one of the most important businesses in town during that time period. By 1870, over 20 stores had opened up throughout the town with more than 100 employees total; this number only increased after incorporation into York County! Uniontown experienced some tough times during World War II with ample evidence of military activity nearby including shell casings left behind all around town! However, despite these challenges, local citizens worked hard to rebuild their community following war’s devastation; many projects included construction of roads, bridges and even an elementary school! Nowadays Uniontown is known for its excellent shopping opportunities including numerous specialty shops as well as large quantities of both clothing and RD&D items available at reasonable prices! Additionally, wine tasting tours are offered every few months or so giving visitors an opportunity to experience some wonderful wineries close by while spending some quality time downtown!

The town experienced growth during the 1840s due to its location at the junction of two wagon roads, which led to increased trade and commerce. Businesses grew larger and more significant as transportation improved. In 1846, Uniontown incorporated as a borough. The town experienced rapid growth during the 1870s due to industrialization and population growth in nearby anthracite coal mines. Manufacturing became an important economic sector in Uniontown after this time. This period also saw advancements in education and health care; Uniontown among other places enjoyed high rates of literacy and infant mortality rates lower than those found elsewhere during this time period. During World War II, Uniontown was one of many American towns that were bombed by Nazi Germany; however, no damage was done to the town center or any buildings within it. In recent years, Uniontown has seen modest growth as commute times from surrounding communities have become shorter and more convenient through various highways connecting Pittsburgh and Philadelphia via Interstate 79W/Upper Darby Road (a bypass road). However, some remaining aspects of traditional Main Street life such as segregated bus service between local businesses (grocery stores are located along Market Street) remain unchanged despite these advances.
