Uniontown is a small town in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,712 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area and was once a major industrial center for TEXTILE FABRICS and other related industries. Uniontown has been called "the heart of the anthracite coal mining region" because of its abundance of coal reserves. The first settler in Uniontown was George Washington Harbin who arrived in 1768. The town was named after General James Connally, commander of American forces during the French and Indian War. In 1801, John Sutter founded Sutter's Mill which became one of the largest cotton mills in America. He also built a log cabin known as "The Old Plantation" which now serves as a museum in Uniontown. In 1864, when Andrew Johnson became President of the United States, he ordered all federal land to be acquired for western development including 1 million acres (500 km2) for what would become West Virginia; this included 400 square miles (1,200 km2) for what would become Uniontown Township and 4square miles (10 km2) for what would become East Union Township. The townships were organized on July 1, 1866 with their initial population numbering 906 people: 511 men and 86 women; 6 blacksmiths; 16 farmers; 25 clergymen; 20 mechanics; 10 tailors; 8 shoemakers; 2 artisans- BLACK WASHERS AND WEavers In 1901 – 1907 steamboats operating between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg carrying passengers stopped at East Union Landing on the Susquehanna River due to high water levels caused by heavy rains upstream from where Shippensville Dam stood on Beaver Creek near present day Bethlehem Steel Works). Traffic improved greatly when Shippensville Dam was completed upstream making navigation possible even during high water levels without fear that boats would get stuck or be damaged while attempting to cross East Union Landing eventually became Burlington Ferry Terminal due to its convenient location next to Burlington Railroad tracks across from Shippensville Dam access point By 1916 there were 3 stores/cafés/bars/libraries open along US 1 with an additional six businesses opened since 1906 including two breweries: Samuel Adams Brewery Company closed in 1916 but reopened as Peddle Brewing Company soon afterwards During World War I many homes were destroyed by fire including those located behind First Presbyterian Church which still stands today looking out over Route 21

Uniontown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The CDP was established on December 10, 1960, when it was added to the municipality of North Union Township. On July 1, 2002, Uniontown annexed parts of South Union Township. The village of North Union Township had a population of 3,906 as of the 2000 census; this decreased to 2,904 by 2007. As a result of annexation by Uniontown and South Union Township, the population within the former village has grown from 4,752 in 2000 to 7,340 as of 2010. According to the US Census Bureau's 2006 American Community Survey (ACS), 91% of residents identify themselves as white European American or Irish American; 6% are black or African American; and 0.3% are Asian or Pacific Islander descent. Hispanic or Latino residents make up 2%, though this number may be smaller due toreporting difficulties caused by language barriers and lack of censuses conducted in those areas since 2001). The ACS also reports that 8% have some other race as their only identification while 33% said they were not sure what their racial identity was
Uniontown is a census-designated place in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, located in and around the town of Uniontown Township. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,873. The name comes from the union (connection) of two townships: Union Township and Westmoreland Township. The first settlers to Uniontown were families who came to what is now Uniontown from Berks County in 1793. They built a cabin on land that is now part of Lower Merion Township - still standing today at 5357 Northampton Street. The first school was established in 1807 in what is now Easton Township and operated for five years before being moved to Uniontown where it remained until 1814 when it was replaced by a school house in what is now Westmoreland Township. In 1795, David Saylor donated 8 acres (3 hectares) of land to be developed into a town site which he named after his father-in-law, Daniel Webster Sr., one of Pennsylvania's most prominent patriots during the Revolutionary War. Mr. Webster had originally come to America as an indentured servant and later became an wealthy man with interests in real estate and commerce throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.. In 1800, he donated another acre (0 hectare) to be developed into a permanent home for himself and his family; this property would become known as Webster Manor or "Webster Place". At first only 2 people lived permanently within the new town limits but by 1825 there were over 100 residents living within its boundaries! In 1832, following reports that disease was rampant among Native Americans living near Lancaster County along the Susquehanna River valley, Congress passed legislation authorizing President Andrew Jackson to establish Fort Monmouth on July 25th – just outside present day Uniontown - as part of efforts “to protect our citizens against those savages” according to one newspaper report at that time! The fort would eventually become one of Jackson’s many victory points during his successful campaign for president against incumbent John Quincy Adams! Fort Monmouth served as both military headquarters and refuge for American women during their fight against Indian attacks throughout much of central Pennsylvania during this period including some visits by Martha Washington herself! On December 16th, 1837 Major General Anthony Wayne arrived at Fort Monmouth with 4 companies of cavalry after winning an epic battle against Chippewa Indians near Pittsburgh escorting General Joseph Ewing’s column across Western PA onto US soil – thus becoming history’s first major general ever confirmed arrival on American soil via military force!
