Uniontown is a small town in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,867 at the 2010 census. The name of the town is derived from the Union of 1787, which was a group of thirteen colonies that became the United States of America. Uniontown is located in southeastern Huntingdon County on U.S. Route 422 about southeast of Harrisburg and north-northwest of Pittsburgh. The first settlers in Uniontown were necessity refugees from Proctor Township in Cumberland County who had to leave their homes becauseoyalists had burned down their barns and storehouses there on November 22, 1777 during the American Revolution. They built a log cabin known as "Dingwall" near present day Old Forge Road and settled there until 1800 when they moved to what is now Uniontown Township due to high water levels caused by nearby Mount Washington making it impossible for them to farm above ground. In 1824 they built another log cabin – this time called "Owings" – on what is now Beaverdam Road just outside present day Uniontown limits. By 1830 there were six families living inUniontown with sixty acres (26 ha) labor land holdings; however, by 1840 only two families still lived here despite having added over three hundred acres (140 ha) to their holdings since then thanks largely to irrigation systems developed by John Denny and others working for him as part of his Lancaster Canal project In 1854 David Boderwald donated one acre (0.40 ha) of land at Owings Creek for use as a cemetery where Protestant Episcopalians could buried their dead while Catholics could bury theirs within twenty miles (30 km). The first interment took place on October 15th, 1854 under the direction of Rev Dr Wessel Hennig who officiated at behalf of Bishop George Snively who conducted services at Dingwall Manor later that month The townsite was platted around 1850 by James Atherton under the name "New Market", after his estate near Philadelphia where he operated an inn and market garden/grocery store before becoming proprietor/manager thereof across all seven counties comprising Pennsylvania including Huntingdon County between 1851-1860 inclusive . Indeed, given how early warning systems were apparently nonexistent or very rudimentary within many frontier communities such as these - any formality or governing entity other than individual family businesses would likely not have survived long enough pretextually occasioned . For example , few residents even knew what happened “outside” their homes during times of major violence or civil unrest such as those associated withraised tensions between Native Americans and white settlers along western Pennsylvania's Allegheny Mountains during late 19th century ... Intra-community dynamics more often accounted for most intra-community problems rather than outsiders causing them

The first newspaper in Uniontown was the "Uniontown Gazette" published from 1827 to 1830. In 1839, Uniontown incorporated as a city under the name of "Pittsburgh". In 1865, during the American Civil War, Uniontown sided with Confederate forces over the cause of America. After the war ended, many members of Uniontown's disbanded army settled there and began rebuilding their homes; however, most residents continued to support slavery until after Reconstruction had ended in 1865. In 1898, Uniontown merged with nearby Monessen to form what is now Monessen-Union Township(). On April 15th 1909 issue of "The Pittsburg Times", an event occurred that would have far-reaching consequences for both towns - President William McKinley delivered his speech denouncing annexations by southern states during his State ofthe union address which caused much public outcry throughout Pennsylvania; this led to open warfare between Pittsburg and Monessen over who controlled access to what become known as The Stripes (now I-376). This violence lasted until 1913 when negotiations resulted in both towns ceding land east of I-376 to create newly formedMonessen Township (). There has been no major incident or development taking place within either town since then other than annexation by neighboring municipalities such as Greensburg (1974) or Glassport (2002). On November 3rd 2016 UPMC announced it would be moving its operations out west into Allegheny County due to funding cuts being made by Governor Tom Wolf's administration; this followed years of rumors that UPMC may move out because health care costs were skyrocketing due to changes brought about by Obamacare repeal and subsequent state budget cuts. As part of this deal UPMC agreed not to sell any properties within Republic Stadium adjacent to their new headquarters but will still maintain certain outpatient services located inside stadium including surgery/emergency room/advice office etc.......OSHA mandated all employers take precautions against fires including sprinklers & smoke detectors on all levels inside & outside building
