Uniontown was a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was established in 1795, and from 1837 to 1860 it was the county seat of Lancaster. Uniontown became part of the newly formed Allegheny County on January 3, 1871.

Uniontown is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,912 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area and is bordered by Butler to the north, Union Township to the east, Monongahela County to the south and Westmoreland County to the west. The first settlement at Uniontown was founded in 1795 by General Washington's Expedition on horseback from Westmoreland County. The town was named for General John Forbes (1745-1824), who fought in the American Revolutionary War and later served as a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania. In 1814, Uniontown became part of Indiana Territory when that state was created from parts of Ohio and Virginia. As part of this territory, it became one of five townships within what would become Allegheny County; however, its boundaries changed frequently until they were fixed at their present form in 1825 when Butler County was established. In 1827, Uniontown became an independent township under control of Congressmen John Greenway and James Kieft; it remained so until it merged with neighboring Westmoreland Township on February 1st 1907 into what is now Allegheny County government. Prior to this merger there were two sets of voting districts for both townships: one set based on township population size while another set included all citizens over age 25 regardless of population size within their respective townships or villages (i.e., rural residents voted only in their village while city residents did so in their township). These voting districts were abolished following the merger because larger townships had enough voters without having to create additional voting districts; however these same Voting Districts still exist within Allegheny County government today as Working Rule maps which are used for setting property taxes without going through a full slate election process like with other counties Uniontown has many notable people associated with it including: Hugh McCulloch (1811-1892) - A prominent lawyer who represented many early settlers in western Pennsylvania John Forbes (1745-1824) - A general during America's Revolutionary War who later served as a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania Fletcher Henderson (1905-1987) - One half owner saddlery company which manufactured some $2 billion worth shoes per year during its lifetime

Uniontown was founded by colonists from New York on November 9, 1777 as part of the Northwest Territory and was named for George Washington. The first settler in Uniontown was James Williamson. Williamstown and other towns were founded nearby in the early 1800s. In 1836 Uniontown became the county seat of Perry County after it was moved from Wilkinsburg to Uniontown from Mechanicsburg. On December 15, 1836, Congress passed a bill designating Monmouthshire Township within Perry County as the new county seat. The county courthouse and jail were built in Uniontown between 1840 and 1845 by John Gaudin, a builder who also designed many other homes in central Pennsylvania during the mid-19th century. The town has experienced several waves of white settlement over time; its most recent influx came with World War II when thousands of people relocated to suburban areas around Pittsburgh due to wartime shortages of jobs in manufacturing plants located east of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Since then, much attention has been paid to Uniontown's unique history – including its role as one of only two slaveholding counties in Pennsylvania – which has been documented extensively by researchers at local universities such as Duquesne University and Carnegie Mellon University (see History of Uniontown). Today, Uniontown remains a small town with close-knit relationships among its residents – many still engaged in farming or various agricultural activities – while also enjoying access to essential services such as libraries, schools and shopping malls located nearby; making it an attractive place for locals and visitors alike to explore during their visits to central PA or even outside the region altogether!
