This caused great unrest in the community and led to Snyder's ouster from office just two years later after large protests against his leadership occurred throughout the city center. In 1865, when Pennsylvanian statehood took effect, St. Marys became part of what would become West Virginia Territory which then became part of Ohio Territory under President Abraham Lincoln before becoming part of Indiana Territory following his inauguration in 1860. However, despite this history worthy representation on US soil (albeit one that has been ignored), little has changed since 1865 when St .Marys residents were struggling economically without any help from their government counterparts; fortunately for them recently passed legislation giving them some hope for change within their own bordersA bill that seeks to improve economic conditions within municipalities across AmericaA measure which is set to expire at the end of 2020A sad reminder that even with all good intentions some governments can't be trustedA subject I will continue writing about until something better happens
On October 16, 1781, a group of men from the town of St.Marys in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania founded the Presbyterian church in what is now known as Bethlehem Township. The Reverend John Dickson and his team traveled to Philadelphia for supplies on November 3 and founded the first Presbyterian congregation there on December 6. The Reverend David Brown and his team journeyed to Northampton County, Pennsylvania in search of land on January 2, 1782, and founded a second Presbyterian congregation there that same day. On February 10th, Reverend George Allis established a third Presbyterian congregation in what is now West Chester Township. These congregations were soon joined by others throughout the region and by 1802 there were over 100 Presbyterians worshiping at various locations in central Pennsylvania.
