However, Fenton's son-in-law Frederick Wirtz purchased the business back from Wirtz two years later and kept it running until its closure again in 1915 due to World War I(). In 1916, another local man named Harry Kessler bought the business from Wirtz and continued its operation until his death five years later. After Kessler's death, ownership passed through many hands before finally being given back to the township government in 1935 as part of a land swap with nearby Hardwick Township (). After World War II ended, there were few opportunities for businesses founded during wartime because most Americans had left town for military service or other responsibilities overseas. However, one local business did stay open: The Gun Shop at 1224 Main Street () which reopened after the war as an antique weapons store (). The Gun Shop at 1224 Main Street became well known throughout Sharon for its rare firearms collection (it still has such a collection today) as well as its knowledgeable staff who could help customers find just what they were looking for online or via phone customer service (). In 1972(), Wally Siegel began trading ammunition at 124th Street and 2nd Avenue (), which would become Shapiro’s Ammunition & Firearms Sales () after Wally’s father-in-law Don Shapiro acquired the store from his brother-in-law Abe Levy (). Shapiro’s Ammo & Firearms Sales went on sale across Pennsylvania from 1976 through 1984 under various management changes including owner Rick Goudreau () before finally becoming fully owned by Sandy Quaid () in 1994 (). Sharon, Pennsylvania is a small town located in Lehigh County, PA. The population was 3,813 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Bethlehem–Easton, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Sharon was Major George Potter who arrived in 1795. He named the township after his wife Deborah and their daughter Sarah. In 1836, Rev. John Ladd moved to Sharon from Yorktown Heights and opened a mission station there known as "Ladd's Hill". Reverend Ladd made it his personal mission to evangelize the area and he became known for his teachings on Christianity and social welfare programs which helped improve the lives of many residents. In 1862, General Robert E Lee visited Sharon while on a military campaign against the Union forces and decided to stay in that area for the winter before moving on to battle at Gettysburg. When he returned home he founded what would become Bethlehem Steel Company with some of his soldiers and families. In 1892, Samuel Kapp bought land adjacent to present day Sharon Center from Michael Farrell for $5 per acre (1/4th of an acre = .50¢). In addition, local businesses helped contribute to troop morale by selling items such as gasoline and cigarettes to soldiers on deployment. With that kind of support, Sharon remained relatively unaffected by military activity throughout 1944-1945 - one of only a few places in western PA not directly impacted by wartime efforts (.
