The safety catch consisted of three small bars that fit into recesses on either side of the rectangle (much like our current firearm locks). When opened, this safe allowed access only to those who held a pistols with at least six chambers left in them! But it wasn’t all doom and gloom for gun safes during these early days – there were some great innovations being developed too!
