In 1861, another rifle regiment was organized at Pottsville by order of General Ulysses S. Grant from members of the disbanded rifle companies from earlier wars. The new regiment also served in the Civil War but did not participate in battle. The current pottsville gun barrel history begins with World War I when an arms manufacturing company called Armstrong Manufacturing began producing ammunition for rifles at what is now known as Armstrong Park on State Street near Third Avenue in Pottsville (now West Chester). This factory produced over 100 million rounds of ammunition for World War I alone! Armstrong Ammunition made barrels for many different firearms including rifles and pistols; however, it is most famous for its production of Winchester Repeating Arms chokes which became synonymous with Ruger Firearms products worldwide!
Pottsville is a town in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,822 at the 2010 census. It is the namesake of Edward Potts (1772-1850), an early settler and founder of the town. The Pottsville Water Works served as a key factor in its growth and development. The Pottsville School District serves the town. The first settlers to what would become Pottsville were Caleb Price and his family in 1777. In 1800, James Kinney founded a gristmill on the Schuylkill River near modern day Bethlehem. By 1825, John Glidden had built a mill on the east side of the river opposite of Price's mill and by 1830 there were six mills in operation within one mile of Pottsville proper. In 1851, George Washington Carver moved from rural Delaware to purchasing land around present day Bethlehem with hopes of starting a sugar plantation there but he never accomplished this goal due to lack of support from local officials or investors interested in his project. The water works that are now located downtown pottsvilles began operations in 1868 when James Wistar erected an artificial dam across the Schuylkill River just south of where it currently stands (now known as Second Street). This new dam allowed for more efficient irrigation than had been possible before and helped to spur economic development within town limits which reached its peak during World War II when many companies such as Continental Canning & Container Company, Pfeiffer Coal & Coke Company and Hormel Foods Corporation all set up production facilities within walking distance of Pottsville proper; these plants produced millions of cans/kgs for Allied forces duringWWII. Today Pottsville remains an economically active community with several businesses open year-round including Applebees(), Dunkin' Donuts (), Subway (), Barnes & Noble () and several restaurants operated by Local Pizza (). Additionally, several small businesses have sprung up around Third Street specifically catering to residents who work or do business nearby such asHome Depot (), Starbucks (), Rite Aid () and Menard's() which has made it one of the most pedestrian rich areas in Lehigh County - making it easy to get around without having to leave your neighborhood!

After the war, pottsville experienced rapid growth as a manufacturing center. By 1870 its population had grown to over 10,000. However, during the Progressive Era pottsville saw declines in population and economic activity until its heyday in the 1920s and 1930s. Pottsville was founded in 1774 by Joseph Potts and his brother James. The town was named for General George Washington. In 1876, the town was renamed for Cyrus McCormick, the inventor of the McCormick Reaper.
