The history of Pottsville, Pennsylvania can be traced back to 1795 when the area was part of the British Province of Westmoreland. It was during this time that a small settlement called Pottsville was established by settlers from Palmyra, New York. The community grew rapidly and by 1812 had a population of around 100 people. In 1814, Pottsville became part of the United States as a result of the Mexican-American War. In 1835, it became the capital of what is now Westmoreland County. The town continued to grow and in 1865 it reached its current size with 1,500 residents. By 1930, Pottsville had become an important industrial center with a number of businesses including a steel plant and chemical plants. During the 1970s and 1980s, however, potters began moving out of town as production switched from pottery to other types of manufacturing. Today, Pottsville remains a small community with approximately 100 residents
Pottsville is a census-designated place in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wilkes-Barre–Scranton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pottsville is located in eastern Luzerne County on the Susquehanna River and is bordered by Scranton to the south and east, Johnstown to the north, and Bethlehem to the west. The first inhabitants of what are now Pottsville and surrounding areas were Native Americans who hunted game in present day Lackawanna County. A small community was founded here about 1812 by John Potts Sr., an American Revolutionary War colonel who also ran a ferry service across the Susquehanna River. His son John Potts Jr., continued this operation until 1800 when he sold it to his brother Isaac Botts. In 1827, Ebenezer Wright bought land here from Isaac Botts and built a mill where it still stands today. In 1830, Andrew Wheeler purchased land from Ebenezers Wright and developed it into a town which he named after himself – Pottsville! The first stores opened here in 1831: Andrew Wheeler's Store (now known as First National Bank), Wheelers Tavern (now known as The Olde Peachtree), Mr. Smiths grocery store (now known as Joe's Pizza), Mrs. Smiths house (now known as both houses on Main Street) and several other small businesses quickly followed suit throughout much of its early years. By 1835, there were over 20 businesses operating in Pottsville! In 1837, Samuel Morse established a telegraph line through town which initially only served local residents but soon became interconnected with other towns in northeastern PA using miles long wires! After Samuel Morse’s death in 1850, his children continued transmission services for many years! Eventually all lines were abandoned during prohibition; however some pieces of equipment still remain today at various locations around town including Friends School & Library! In 1939 potters created their first Claymore Arms rifle company out of their home garage!! The current name of this business comes from Rufus Howe’s nursery & garden store located on 6th Ave SW that had special claymore arms dealers section complete with props & costumes for theatrical performances

Pottsville is a town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,756 at the 2010 census. Pottsville is part of the Reading, PA–DE–MD Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers in what is now Pottsville were Quakers from Northampton County. They began to arrive around 1760 and built their house on the old millstream near the present day village of Pottsville. The early potters and traders who came to this area were among the first to develop trade with the Indian nations and purchase goods they produced along the Susquehanna River. In 1824, when Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States, he visited Pottsville while campaigning for re-election. In 1828, General Andrew Jackson was elected President of America and arrived in Philadelphia for his inauguration ceremony on April 12th. When he left Philadelphia for home on April 15th, he left behind a large black market in which local farmers sold goods confiscated during his military campaigns against Native Americans at Fort Pitt (now Pittsburgh). On May 1st Abraham Lincoln was sworn into office as President of America by Chief Justice Roger Taney with Pottsville's Mayor John Smeaton serving as secretary. The townspeople voted to remove themselves from Berks County due to new state laws limiting voting rights for citizens of counties that did not have a seat in Congress nor an admittance into any university or college through official channels (). This event has been cited as one of the most significant moments in history because it demonstrated how easily people could move away from their homes and communities without losing their political power or civil liberties. After being removed from Berks County, PottsVILLE became part of York County which had more political power because it included all of Bethlehem Township including its congressional district (which made it much easier for York county officials to pass ordinances that Affected PottsVILLE residents). 1) From then until 1861 there wasn't really much happening here aside from people moving away 2) Then everything changes when Lancaster got annexed into York 3) Finally after Lancaster incorporation we started seeing some real development 4) Nowadays potteries still exists but has slowly declined over time
