Pottstown is a small town in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Allentown-Easton-Middletown, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what would become Pottstown was John Potts, who arrived there in 1764. Potts built a gristmill on his farm and named it after himself. The first post office in Pottstown was established in 1812. In 1957, Pottstown approved plans by then-Mayor John Fetterman to build a new school building which would be tallest on Main Street in town since that street crossed over into neighboring New Hope Township (now Northampton Township).
