The first official residents were chosen in May 1907 via referendum and incorporation took place on October 2 that same year. Cloverdale incorporated separately on December 10th 1909 but reverted back to its original name after a few years due to lack of support from local residents who preferred "Fenton Township." During World War II many soldiers from all over Northeast America went through Plum for training at Lackland Air Force Base before being sent off to fight in Europe or Japan. On November 15, 1859, the city limits were expanded to include much of what is now Clearfield County as well as parts of Beaver Dam Township and Westmoreland Township. On March 3rd, 1961, all of Clearfield County except for part within the City Limits were transferred to Prudential Insurance Company trusteeship under an agreement between Mayor John Pasternak and Chairman Sidney Weinreb In 1915-16 when World War I broke out in Europehey evacuated their homes leaving behind all their livestock including plums which they horticulturally grew since before European settlement After WWI ended (1918), many residents returned to live but had no idea how to grow plums so they started cultivateing again around 1922 or 1923 In early 1940s when United States entered WWIIplum production increased because during war years many farmers produced goods for military use such as munitions
