Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, is located in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains and has been a center for optics research and production since the early 1800s. The city was first settled by English settlers in 1788, and soon became a major manufacturing center for telescopes. Today, Phoenixville is home to several famous optical manufacturers, including American Optical (now Raytheon), Peacock Optics, and Swenzel Opticals. The history of optics in Phoenixville begins with two British scientists who traveled to America in the early 1800s to carry out cutting-edge scientific experiments with lenses and mirrors. These pioneers were responsible for developing the now common telescope design – an open-air observatory that relies on natural light pollution rather than artificial light sources to observe celestial objects. Over time, other British immigrants arrived in America and begun working in various industries related to optics – among them were James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1907) who developed equations that help explain how energy travels through matter; Isaac Newton (1642-1727) who first identified three types of movement within a physical object: direct/vertical motion; centrifugal/centripetal motion; or translation/Rotational Motion; George Stephenson (1792-1847) who built the first locomotive engine; William Fenton (1785-1865)who invented photography; John Thorpe (1795-1868) who designed important waveGUARDS devices used during World War I; Maurice Sanders (1901-1984) whose work led to fiber optic cable insulation being developed at Bell Telephone Laboratories ;[and] Robert Hogg(1878-1965)[“Hoggle”], one of the cofounders of Hewlett Packard,[1] whose development helped make electronic computing possible. Today there are more than 100 businesses operating within the scope of optics production in Phoenixville.[2] The ingenuity showcased by these pioneers has continued throughout history – for example, when American Optical began producing high quality Schmidt glasses for use with microscopes back in 1894,[3] or when PeacockOptics began making Leica binoculars starting in 1909.[4] And even today there are those dedicated individuals WHO ARE creating new technologies which could lead to mass market adoption for new generations of scopes![5]

Phoenixville is a small town in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, located in the southern tier of the state. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 539. The name originated from an Indian word meaning "place where Coyotes live." Phoenixville was founded by European settlers in 1795 and was incorporated as a borough on December 15, 1802. It became a village on October 21, 1907. The population declined during World War II and declined again during the 1990s; however, it has grown somewhat since then. Phoenixville is home to two schools: Eastern High School and Phoenixville Senior High School. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Phoenixville were Quakers who came overland from Philadelphia in 1795. They named their new settlement after their old home city – Philadelphia – because they wanted to ensure that their children would have access to education there if they moved back someday. The first settler was John Worrell, who arrived with his family in 1796. The town's first school was built on West Main Street by 1800–1801 under guidance of Reverend James Fenton, one of Philadelphia's most prominent educators at the time. In 1803, when Pittsburgh annexed Phoenixville into its city limits, residents voted not to incorporation because they felt that it would be too difficult for them to maintain their own government without publicly supported schooling (although they did eventually incorporate). In 1907, when Pittsburgh annexed all but one township within its boundaries (the remaining township became Squirrel Hill), Phoenixvillians voted not to annex into Pittsburgh due to fears that doing so would lead to decreased social and economic opportunities for themselves and their families; furthermore, annexation would have entailed more than just increased taxes for the municipality which could only be collected through referendums or other means outside of its control[1]. On January 1st 1909- very much against popular sentiment-Phoenixvillians passed an ordinance allowing businesses within their community limited hours operation between 8am and 6pm; this ordinance remains in effect today despite repeal efforts by both City Hall and local business owners[2]. At first glance this measure may seem like another example of how smalltown life depends on communication with larger entities such as City Hall- however upon closer inspection it actually served as an early form of zoning which still applies today including limitations on hours operated businesses within certain areas(eastern high school). This regulation helped keep traffic moving around town during those pesky morning rush hours while also prohibiting many late night activities which took place largely unsupervised outside those limited hours periods[3]. From 1907 until 1959 there were no schools open after lunchtime due excessive demand by students living off campus[4]; however starting in 1959 tuition rates at Beltz School District’s new high school began rising rapidlyrendering offerings inadequate for many students seeking additional educational opportunities beyond high school [5]. These days many people consider Valley Forge State Park near downtown PhoenixVILLE one of PA’s top tourist attractions thanks largely to its proximity yet prohibitively expensive Admission prices
Phoenixville was founded in 1736 by Colonel George Washington. The first settler in the area was John Nicholson. It was named after Mount Vernon, which Washington had bought from Prince Nicholas of Russia. In 1812, Phoenixville became part of the United States and it is one of the oldest U.S. towns still extant
