Gun targets have been a part of Phoenixville, PA since the 1800s. The first target was erected in 1810 by the gunsmith and dealer Nicholas Lyon. This small, manually operated target was used to shoot game at local farms. In 1861, John Witherspoon donated land to Phoenixville for a public shooting range. The range remained open until 1971 when it was closed due to budget cuts. However, in 1978, the Phoenixville Rifle & Pistol Club purchased the old range and reopened it as a Gun Target Complex. In 1984, the complex hosted the International Shooting Show which drew over 100 countries to attend. Phoenixville is located in Potter County, Pennsylvania. The town was founded in 1798 by George Washington and named after thethen-newtown of Phoenix, Scotland. It was an important stop on the Underground Railroad before American independence. In 1864, the Union Army destroyed most of the town's buildings during its campaign against Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
Phoenixville is a small town in Pennsylvania, located near the Ohio border. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Reading–Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Phoenixville were Englishmen who arrived around 1763. They founded an agricultural community on the east side of White Sands Lake, about two miles south of present day Phoenixville. The early settlers were Presbyterian and they named their community after the biblical city of Jerusalem which they knew well from their travels there during the British occupation of that country in the mid-19th century. The original village had only a few homes and a mill established by Rev. John Goodspeed in 1820. But by 1840, when Buffalo Township was organized into counties, Phoenixville had 1,000 residents and a schoolhouse and other public buildings including a store and two churches became necessary for its growing population. In 1854, Drury & Company began operating as one of America's first blacksmiths with shops in both Buffalo Township (now Carbon County) and Bucks County (now Delaware County). This company soon became one of Philadelphia's largest employers with workshops throughout central Pennsylvania as well as southern New Jersey and Baltimore Md., becoming known as "America's largest blacksmithing firm" until it merged with anotherPhiladelphia-based business to form Cushman & Wakefield in 1903). A post office was established at Phoenixville on July 10, 1854, under jurisdiction of Lebanonburg township; but it did not take hold until October 2nd when mail reached Phoenixville from Lebanonburg via Reading about four times weekly! In 1861 civil war broke out between Unionists and Confederates across Pennsylvania; within three years all businesses associated withDrury & Company - blacksmithing included - had been destroyed or taken over by Unionists because they refused to share production among all sides despite what must have been an high price tag for such an innovative business venture: In 1865 Drury & Co.'s shop building still stood unharmed although most other businesses within five miles had also gone down in value due to wartime destruction/ confiscation.......................................

Phoenixville is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden metropolitan area. The first European to set foot in what is now Phoenixville was Nicholas Knoppers on May 10, 1765. He founded a trading post near present-day Springettsbury Township and named it after his home town of Phoenicia (modern day Beirut). Knoppers sold goods from his post to traders and settlers in what is now Bucks County and Delaware County. The first permanent settler was John Chandler in 1776. In 1802, the United States government granted land north of the Susquehanna River to Aaron Burr for his estate called Eastonburg (now part of Philadelphia). Burr built a log cabin there and called it "Burr'sburgh". In 1815, he donated additional land to become Southside township which became Phoenixville. In 1837, Phoenixville voters passed a resolution calling for an election to be held on November 8th for president pro tempore of the United States Senate because one senator was not registered as required by law. On November 8th, they elected James Kapp as their candidate but he lost to incumbent David Wilkins by 1 vote. Eventually all citizens of Southside Township were annexed into Phoenixville during the late 19th century when that township's boundaries changed with those of other municipalities within Bucks County so as not to duplicate services or resources offered by individual townships. In 1911, due to growing energy needs associated with World War I, new industrial plants were established in nearby Westtown Township - giving Phoenixville its name: "the Machine City". These plants produced munitions such as machine guns and tanks; however large portions of these industries closed soon afterwards due to economic recession caused by World War II/Cold War tensions between America and Europe alike. However some smaller businesses continued until they too were closed down during the 1980s due mainly to consolidation among larger companies throughout Pennsylvania during this time period (See also: Pittsburgh Steel Mill Explosion). During this time period residents sometimes refer generically to themselves as "steelers" although no such industry actually thrived within miles radius of downtown Philly at that time! During the 1970s many people left Valley Forge for better opportunities found elsewhere in both America and Great Britain; however many families still remain today who maintain close ties back home including hosting annual Thanksgiving dinners here at their homes which are often attended by family members from both countries who attend together thanksgiving services at our church located just outside city limits!
