On February 14th - one day after Michigan had become a state - Ohio repealed Act No. 10 which gave Pennsylvania jurisdiction over all lands east of Chesterfield Creek including Norristown. This caused much anger among residents who felt they had been robbed when their township was split two ways without their consent The city's growth paralleled that of neighboring Reading and Yorktown during the 19th century; however growth stopped abruptly around 1900 when better transportation options opened up with autos and trucks becoming more common than horse-drawn carriages or wagons for goods transport into central PA towns such as Norristown and Clearfield beyond Olmsted Pointe along State Route 610 (now I-95). The last major passenger train service to run through Norristown came in 1969 when Amtrak ran its "Empire Builder" service between Philadelphia Union Station and Pittston Junction outside Scranton/Wilkes-Barre services were also available until 1984 when both stations were closed due to budget cuts by then Governor Frank McGhee following his unsuccessful bids for re-election against Robert Dole from Kansas City metropolitan area northeast corridor Congressional District Ulysses S.
