In 1795, Isaac Newton developed what is now known as the Principia Mathematica which helped guide scientists in their efforts to build more accurate telescopes and perfect their optics. With new technology came new challenges such as getting enough light into any given telescope for observation while also minimizing distortions caused by mirrors, eyepieces, or other components of the telescope system. After much experimentation and refinement during the 18th century, astronomers finally arrived at what is known today as a primary mirror telescope which uses objective lenses that are focused directly on an image target rather than using an eyepiece or mirror like earlier telescopes. During World War II, advances in technology led to increased efficiency and accuracy of optical equipment used by Allied forces in battlefields around the world. This led eventually to improved images captured by modern astronomical observatories around the world making it possible for researchers to study things like galaxies and stars up close without having them appear too noisy or fuzzy). New Kensington, Pennsylvania is a town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,951 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Erie–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name New Kensington comes from the Lenni Lenape word ken-tsin meaning "place of refuge." The first known settlement in the area was made on a small island in the Delaware River by John Smith and his party during their 1736 mapped expedition. On July 3, 1740, George Washington and his army met with Native Americans at Fort Duquesne to sign a treaty ceding land to Pennsylvania. In 1748, General Forbes erected a fortification here after unsuccessfully trying to take it from its garrison of Indians led by Chief Wyandotte. Forbes named it for Admiral William Howe who had helped him win the Battle of Saratoga over two years earlier. During the American Revolutionary War (1775-77), British forces burned down much of Pittsburgh including many buildings in what is now New Kensington Township; however, no settlers were killed or affected as a result. In October 1779 British Major Edward Braddock's force invaded America under Lieutenant Colonel John Adams while Howe was out of town on an important military engagement in Canada; Adams repelled Braddock's attack and drove him back towards Philadelphia where he finally surrendered on December 14th that year. In 1814 Congress passed an act creating what would become Lackawanna County – including all present-day Allegheny County – following Britain's defeat in World War I against Austria and Turkey collectively called "The war to end wars". The township was organized as part of Wyoming County on November 2ndkernel 1827 from parts of Cumberland and Westmoreland counties which then became part of Ohio Territory after Ohio seceded from Michigan Territory on March 12th that year – becoming one state exactly four months later! When WyomingCounty merged into Butler County effective January 1st 1860 its portion across most of today's Boroughs eastward became Easton Township but westward portions within those boroughs remain unincorporated today because they are within ButlerCounty limits defined only by their local governments! A post office called New Kensington was established at this location on December 16th 1828 (the original building still stands) under mail order from London via Isaac Watts who provided wood for firewood grown mostly around Lancaster near where he lived until his death in 1838. It served primarily as a stop along the wagon road between Lancaster and Scranton until 1840 when locomotive service began routing freight farther north through Wilkes-Barre/Scranton parallel to US 9W instead eliminating stops along wagon roads inside present day Westmoreland/Lackawanna Counties! In 1853 John Fenton opened up a general store here which declined due to competition from larger stores farther south within Lackawanna County although it continued operation until 1870 when it moved eastwards into neighboring Uniontown Township! By 1880 there were eighty five stores operating throughout Lackawanda county with about one hundred employees! One reason for this increase may have been increased demand due to increasing production due to improved transportation methods brought about by steamboats running upriver using new canals created during this time period making access more easily available for goods not just moving inland but also reaching markets far beyond these traditional ports such as Erie and Niagara Falls! There were also railways starting up throughout southern PA during this time period making goods movement even easier thereby stimulating development outsidetraditional farmlands limited hitherto by waterways only accessible via boat or horseback ride
