In the early 1800s, this town was home to severalgunsmithing businesses that made firearms for many of the United States’s farmers and hunters. Eventually, these businesses grew into what is now known as Smith & Wesson Firearms Corporation. The company manufactured rifles, shotguns, pistols, and other firearms until 1941. The history of New Kensington’s gun magazines begins with the first such business in 1816. At that time, this small town was located just outside of Philadelphia on the west side of the Delaware River. Because of its location, New Kensington had access to a wide variety of guns and ammo from Europe. As a result, it became one of the most important firearm-manufacturing centers in America during the eighteenth century. In 1831, however, Philadelphia began to become too crowded for merchants wishing to set up shop in that city proper. So New Kensington followed suit and opened its own gun magazine within forty-eight hours of Philadelphia’s decision not to renew its patent for pistol exportations (a policy at that time). This new business thrived until 1841 when Smith & Wesson Firearms Corporation closed its doors following World War II because wartime production demanded more efficient manufacturing processes than could be produced using traditional methods. It is part of the Philadelphia–Middletown, PA-NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The borough of Kensington is adjacent to New Kensington. New Kensington was founded in 1795 as a small frontier community on the north bank of the Susquehanna River near where present-day Market Street and Second Avenue intersect today. The first settler in what would become New Kensington was John Ramsay who arrived with his family from Ulster in 1795. His daughter married George Washington and their son became the first U.S. President (1789-97). In 1812, Colonel James Wilkinson named what would become New Kensington after himself and several other wealthy British investors who had invested in American land grants around that time including Lord Dunmore's Creek and West Point township on Long Island Sound. In 1827, Samuel Morse moved his printing press from Erasmus Hall to what is now Broad Street in order to print books for sale at home which led to the town's nickname "The Printer'sTown." New Kensington grew rapidly during its early years thanks to its advantageous location right next to two major transportation arteries: the Susquehanna River and Pennsylvanian Railroad Company Boulevard which connected Philadelphia with Mechanicsburg on the east side of the river and Altoona on the west side of it; as well as an abundance of natural resources such as timber, coal, iron ore and oil shale located along both sides of Route 422 running through town center - making it one of America's most commercially prosperous towns during its early years. There has been a long and consistent history of magazines in the United States. The first magazine was published in 1795, and it was called the "Gazette." There were at least five different types of magazines before 1857, when the first revolver magazine was printed. In that year, pistols were introduced to America and there wasn't enough space for handguns in traditional newspapers so manufacturers started printing magazine rounds instead. These rounds would be inserted into revolvers to shoot them. The first handgun magazine was published in 1873 by George Westinghouse. From then until 1968, magazines were not allowed to be used on rifles or shotguns because they could create a risk of fire from overloading or inaccurate firing. In 1968, however, this ban was lifted and now magazines are legal on all firearms including rifles and shotguns.
In the early 1800s, a new type of magazine called a "pistol magazine" was developed. This magazine hold more rounds than a regular rifle magazine and could be easily attached to the gun's frame by using a screwdriver or other tool. Pistol magazines were often used in Frontier Wars and other hunting scenarios where it was important to have as many rounds as possible available at once. Pistol magazines also became popular among Confederate Soldier during the American Civil War because they allowed them to carry more rounds than rifles would allow.
New Kensington is a small town in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, located on the southern wing of Philadelphia. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Harrisburg-Carlisle-Lancaster metropolitan area and is bordered by Chester to the north, Lebanon to the east, Dauphin to the south and west, and York County to the northwest. New Kensington was founded in 1799 by Loyalist refugees from York County who had fled during the American Revolutionary War. The town was known as "New Kent" until 1868 when its name changed to "New Kensington". The first settlers were Quakers who left Lancaster for religious reasons in 1799. They soon built a house on what would become New Kensington's main street, which they named Leicester Street after their friend and fellow Quaker Benjamin Leicester of Lancaster. The first stores opened in 1802 along with a public school that educated children up through high school level. In 1805, local farmers started raising corn and wheat for export; this new industry helped increase trade between New Kensington and nearby Lancaster while also providing jobs for locals during agricultural off years. In 1828, Englishman John Swayne arrived in Tryon Township (now Westmoreland) near present-day Allentown with his family as part of wagon train headed westward on THE Great Western Railway from England across country towards Fort Worth Texas destined for cotton fields beyond Mexico City or Central America where slavery then existed but it seemed like an utopian dream come true only to face famine back home due to overpopulation caused by followingBronze Age technology innovations such as steamboats which took away much needed water supplies making land available for farming instead). Upon his arrival he found three families living subsistencely just outside modern day New Kensington limits - one hundred yards northeast of today's intersection of Main Street/Leicester Road (which became State Route 675), now occupied by apartments building upon foundations dating back to early 1800s... himslef being one member among many frontier pioneers including: George Armstrong Custer (1820 – 1889), James Kapp(1821 – 1901), Augustus Kelley(1823 – 1899), David Starr Jordan (1825 – 1880)... To help support their families they turned two abandoned Shannon Creek Valley Railroad passenger cars into farms operative January 1st 1830 - millennia before Keystone XL Pipeline construction began! A few weeks later these same pioneer families donated 2 more railroad cars - this time all four sides facing forward - once again becoming operational as Stroudsburg Agricultural Society Farmstead #2 immediately adjacent to today's landmark building housing PA Department Of Transportation’s Northeast Region Operations Center... grain production initially centered around raising chickens & pigs followed by beans & pork; however dairy products eventually became popular due to good prices offered for snow peas & other winter crops at Pennsylvania markets This period saw some large events including: On February 15th 1830 Isaac Askington granted total immunity from taxes & military service under terms agreed upon with British Foreign Minister Lord North at Yorktown Convention; November 26th 1830 Treaty of Paris ended American Revolution During this time period several churches were constructed including First Presbyterian Church which still stands today In 1834 locomotive engineer Nicholas Pocock came through New Kensington area stopping at Drury Lane Tavern where he met local doctor John Stevens who recommended him travel down river towpath farther into Pennsylvia looking for potential gold mines before continuing on downstream further into Kentucky accessible only via wagons drawn by horseback teams taking hours winding roads through deeply forested hillsides covered mostly with spruce trees giving passengers views out onto Broad Bottom Creek below all levels included clear evidenceof vast numbers OF GOLD LANDINGS INCLUDING A FEW HILLS EAST OF NEW KENSINGTON WITH THEIR OWN SILVER LININGS VERY VISIBLE FROM CITY LIMITS
