In 1847, New Kensington, Pennsylvania was the birthplace of Samuel Colt’s Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company. The company manufactured handguns and other firearms. In 1853, Colt introduced the first revolver in America. The company continued to produce firearms until it merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1903.

New Kensington is a town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,164 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Susquehanna River east of Reading. In 1945, following Germany's surrender, most of the town was destroyed by Allied bombers during Operation Market Garden; however, some buildings and streets still stand today including Main Street which leads to Arsenal Hill where many of New Kensington's major factories were located before they were moved to nearby Harrisburg after the war ended. After German troops surrendered in May 1945, local residents began moving back into their homes while military members remained living in tents and trailers around town until September 1946 when all remaining German forces were evacuated from Delaware County via train to points south like Norfolk Beach and Clearwater Beach afterGerman soldiers had no choice but to give up their weapons because they would not be extradited to America if they tried to return home again

In 1912, New Kensington joined Philadelphia as part of what is known as "the Five Towns" experiment – an effort to promote economic development within central Pennsylvania through joint efforts between local municipalities and regional businesses. In 1937, New Kensington was renamed Borough of Kensington afterJohn Hylan II (1905-1985), who served as mayor from 1951 until his death in 1985. During his time as mayor, Hylan led New Kensington through some difficult times including several years of financial trouble which led to increasing social tension among its residents. However, he also made many progressions such as expanding public education opportunities and creating new parks throughout the borough. After Hylan's death, his widow Mrs. Hylan took on manyof His father's responsibilities as Borough President – she increased spending on programs such as youth programming and infrastructure projects.]] After World War II ended with Japan's surrender concluding World War II on September 2 Limited number of Japanese Americans were still living scattered throughout America because their incarceration had been ordered by Franklin D Roosevelt under Executive Order 9066 which said that all Japanese Americans must be deported without trial or delay regardless of whether they were citizens or not[/b][i] Many people felt like they were being treated unfairly because they didn't have any proof that they were Japanese American [/i][/b]. On December 5 1945 President Truman signed Executive Order 9981 giving people who could prove descent from JapaneseAmericans who lived before Pearl Harbor - called 'Oyster Bay Concentration Camp' - five years to leave while their cases were considered.[citation needed] As a result over 1/3rd [sic] million people living west of Interstate 95 (excluding those living eastward along Route 202) lost their homes when orders went out telling them to leave based on race rather than residency guidelines set forth by Roosevelt himself[d]. This order caused mass displacement due mainly twofold;firstly since few if any individuals could provide documentation proving ancestry; secondly given that no families wanted anything to do with being associated with an internment camp therefore having little chance at moving away from their home counties[/e],[f]. Some people did manage find ways around this suchas hiding under furniture or using secret channels but it definitely wasn't easy considering how much property had been confiscated plus trying not swim against tidal waves everyday [/g], although some did make it out alive
New Kensington was founded in 1798 by John Thomson. The town grew quickly, and in 1800 it had a population of over 1000 people. By 1815, the population had reached 3000, and by 1825, it had reached 4000. New Kensington became an important trade center during the 19th century, with businesses such as an flour mill, bank, and cotton gin located there. In 1859, the first rail line connecting Philadelphia and Pittsburgh was built through New Kensington, making it one of the first towns to be served by railways. During World War II, New Kensington played a significant role in the war effort. Many industries were moved from Philadelphia to New Kensington due to its close proximity to military bases and equipment factories. The town also experienced a rise in crime rates during the war years; however, this has since decreased overall. In recent decades, New Kensington has become known for its cultural attractions – including its music scene and art galleries – though it still retains some of its traditional values (such as strong family support).
