Lennon quickly began to build up his farm empire and rapidly became one of the most prosperous landowners in Allentown County. He built roads and bridges, erected churches and schools, invested money into businesses such as apple orchards and Railroad interests, and even started a paper mill which produced high quality paper products until it closed down during World War II due to wartime rationing policies. Many people believe that Lennon's legacy will always be remembered more for his philanthropy than any accomplishments he may have accomplished on his own behalf; however, many people credit him with helping form Allentown into what it is today thanks to his investment hereabouts! In 1907, when George Wickersham purchased 3/4 mile (1 km) east of present day New Kensington from Andrew Mellon for $2 per acre ($10 million at current prices), he also established himself as an influential landownersman within Allentown County. Wickersham soon became known as a "big man" within society due to his expansive holdings within Allentown County as well as his friendship with both local politicians and businesspeople alike - all while remaining true to his namesake: William Wickersham Sr., Jr.. By 1922, Wickersham had developed a large estate called Llewellyn Park which included 12 miles (19 km) of hiking trails through forested areas interspersed with swimming pools filled with clear water – perfect conditions for hunting deer or fishing eagles! Although Llewellyn Park lay beyond present day New Kensington boundaries until 1926 when developer Harry Jaffe purchased 5 1/2 miles (8 km) northeast of town limits for $5 per acre ($24 million at current prices), its significance cannot be overemphasized given its proximity to Llewellyn Park throughout its entire history! Indeed, much like Llewellyn Park itself - which has seen numerous expansions - so too has New Kensington undergone several changes over its long history including becoming an incorporated municipality in 1959; absorbing adjacent townships including Northampton Township; experiencing rapid growth following World War II; experiencing steady decline following the late 20th century recession; culminating in its annexation by Easton upon establishing Borough status in 2002! These recent additions only underscore how important it is for residents living here today - whether they are first timers or experienced citizens -to keep track not justof our town's past but also look towards future plans & initiatives designed to maintain & improve our community!"
