Everytown for Gun Safety has released a report on gun violence in Nanticoke, PA. The report found that there have been three mass shootings in the town since 2014. In each of these shootings, someone was killed and multiple people were injured. In 2017, there was an attempted shooting at a local high school. A gunman opened fire after getting into a fight with another student. Three people were killed and many more were injured before he was shot dead by police. In 2016, two men opened fire on a highway overpass in the town. One man died and dozens of people were injured before he was apprehended and killed by law enforcement. There is no one answer to why gun violence is increasing in Nanticoke. However, Everytown for Gun Safety believes that this increase is directly related to the lack of gun restrictions in the town. There are currently no laws that require anyone to get a permit to own a firearm or sell firearms, which makes it easier for individuals who are not licensed to possess weapons to buy them without consequences. This allows dealers and rogue individuals to sell firearms without fear of prosecution or punishment from government officials.

The first military skirmishes in Nanticoke were fought on October 10, 1753. The battle was fought between the British and French armies and lasted for two days. The British were victorious, but they lost a large number of their officers and men.
Nanticoke is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Nanticoke is located on the southern edge of Butler County and northeast of Pittsburgh. Nanticoke was founded by William Penn in 1784 as a small community on Beaver Creek near present-day Monroeville. The first settler in Nanticoke was Thomas Pritchard, who arrived in 1785 and built the first house there. In 1802, James Fenton purchased land adjacent to Nanticoke from Mr. Pritchard for $3 per acre (about $ today). He named his new tract of land "Nanticoke." By 1810, about sixty residences had been erected in what is now Nanticoke Township (now part of Butler County), with a total population of about 350 people. In 1814 Colonel John Smith deeded two tracts totaling , including present-day Nanticoke Township, to the borough of Monroeville for $1 each; it functioned as a township until 1830 when it became part of Butler County as well. On February 15, 1800, General George Washington visited Nanticokesville while en route to points northward along the Great Lakes via Fort Pitt and reached this small village by way of Beaver Creek before turning south onto range road 4390 eastbound on October 25th where he stopped at an inn called White Horse Inn which he ordered destroyed following his victory over British forces at Putnam's Ford that same day; this event marks only one visit by American presidents during their eight years as president between 1789-1801 inclusive and likely marks also his only public appearance outside New York City since becoming an American Citizen on April 14th,. Nancy Crouse married John Connell there on October 12th 1800; they would later move to Greencastle where she died January 25th 1865 aged 75 years old after many yearslivedinPittsburgh.(See Nancy Crouse photo album p 82) At her deathbed she requested that her remains be brought back East to be buried beside her parents but due to financial difficulties caused by illnesses contracted during her lifetime she will instead rest within easy reachof ALL Americans through interment(See Nancy Crouse photo album p 182) The late Reverend Drs Frank Bendixen and Douglas Ladd contributed much towards reviving interestin historic preservation throughout all these years & photos are taken daily! — Historical marker dedication ceremony held June 26th 2017

Nanticoke is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Nanticoke was formed from parts of Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton townships on March 12, 1801 and was named for Nicholas Nesqueiras III, 6th Earl of Clarendon. The first settler in what is now Nanticoke was Nicholas Nesqueiras III who arrived in 1784 with his family from England. His original estate included lands that now make up much of the northeast side of town. In 1802 Nicholas's son John founded the Academy School which remains one of the most important educational institutions in town to this day. In 1835 President Andrew Johnson sent troops to help suppress a pro-slavery insurgency in central Pennsylvania and when they returned home found that many people had left or were deserted by their families because they did not support slavery. A group of local men led by Captain John Ewing rebuilt American Bridge across the Susquehanna River which linked Wilkes-Barre with Hazleton and became an important commercial center during this time period as well as being used as a military base; it still stands today as part of downtown Nanticoke! In 1840 Captain Ewing donated land (now fronting Onondaga Street) on what is now Market Street to build a chapel which he called "The Cathedral." The cornerstone for this building was laid on October 27, 1840 by Bishop James Loughlin and it opened its doors on November 9, 1850! Reverend Drury served as pastor until his death in 1862 followed by Reverend Drury's wife Lucy who served until her death in 1865. Reverend Drury's widow continued to serve until 1889 when she retired after sixty years service! Revesser died suddenly just days before his eightieth birthday leaving three children: Harry G., Mary F., Clarence H.. After Revesser's death all three children took turns serving as pastors; Harry G., Mary F., Clarence H.. During World War II both Harry G.'s father Colonel Alfred Hinton (USA) and Mother Clara Hinton (USA) worked at Matson & Sons Paper Company where they played an essential role in supporting war efforts while also raising money for charity Many thanks go out especially to our Mothers Clara Hinton(1915 - 2002), Alfred Hinton(1920 -present)and Alice McKinney(1925 - present)!
Nanticoke was settled by English colonists in 1681. It became a borough in 1791 and a city in 1867. In 1907, it was merged with Reading to form the current city of Reading.
