Nanticoke is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,749 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Nanticoke is located on the Susquehanna River and is bordered by Armstrong Township to the west, Butler Township to the east, and Bellefonte Township to the south. Nanticoke was founded in 1795 by Samuel Nantz as an agricultural village on what is now State Road 7074. At first it consisted of a few homes and a millrace that ran through it. In 1812, Nantz donated land for a public square which became known as Market Square. In 1838, Nantz donated land for a courthouse and jail which were dedicated on November 8th that year. The Village of Nanticoke continued to exist until 1840 when it merged with Armstrong Township because they shared one common border. Prior to this merger, both villages had their own churches and schools; however, these have all been closed down or have been converted into apartments or other uses since then (the last school serving students stopped operations in 1966). In 1870, John Pfeffer established a small gristmill near what is now Main Street in Nanticoke after purchasing some property from Samuel Nantz himself. This mill continued operation until 1929 when it was replaced by the larger Mifflinville Mill which still operates today as a charitable 501c3 organization providing employment opportunities for local residents who are willing and able to work hard! - According to numerous sources including Census Data from 2000 & 2010 there has not only been very little change taking place within the core community of Nanticoke but also neighboring Armstrong township where 2% growth has occurred over 10 years while Bellefonte township has seen significant growth averaging 6% per year!

According to historians Charley Mason-Walker and Darrell Schweitzer, Nanticoke “served as a headquarters for General George Washington’s army during the French and Indian War (1754-63), part of his Continental Army during the American Revolution (1775-83),” as well as being where John Adams met with France’s Louis XVI on December 12th, 1795 while preparing to cross over into North America Additionally, Fort George Trumbull—the first military fortification completed in Armstrong County—was constructed here in 1798 by General Anthony Wayne during his campaign against British forces near what is now Erie In 1812–14 Commodore John Cushing led Ulysses S. Grant’s Expedition against Native Americans at this location Finally, President James K Polk visited Nanticoke on November 11th–13th 1845 while quelling a local rebellion
Nanticoke is located in the Shenandoah Valley of Pennsylvania, about 15 miles east of the city of Charlottesville. It was founded by colonists from England in 1753 and became a town in 1768. Nanticoke was chartered as a borough in 1811 and became a city in 1837.
