Murrysville is part of the Clearfield Township and includes the neighborhoods of Beavercreek, Dunlap, and Armstrong. The first European to sight what is now Murrysville was Captain John Smith on July 14, 1753 when he anchored off its coast. He named it "Newcastle" after his home town of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England. In 1802, John Denny founded Denny's Store here and made it a center for trade with farmers from around the area. In 1834, General George McClellan stopped over at Denny's Store on his way to battle Fort Donelson in Tennessee. In 1865, Murrysville became a focus of Union troops during the Battle of Gettysburg as they were marching through Clearfield Township towards Junction Hill. As Confederate forces converged on them from all directions, many people decided to flee into nearby woods or fields where they would be out of view and unable to fight back. Only one man - James Aiken - bravely remained behind to defend his home and businesses against overwhelming numbers before being killed along with most of his family by Confederate cavalrymen days later near junction hill Battlefield National Cemetery. (Aiken House still stands today.) After the war ended in 1865, many residents returned to their homes while others established new businesses including a grocery store and several grocery delivery services that remain today in downtown Murrysville. Many people who had fled during the war also returned here after Reconstruction began which saw an increase in jobs for locals). In 1908 both old breweries closed their doors forever leaving only one brewery left operating until it too closed down around 1990s due to lack of customers/investment). Today there are several small shops dotting downtown streets serving local snacks and drinks such as Dunkin' Donuts & Coffee etc; some good places for lunch if you're looking for something specific like that! The nickname "The Brewerytown" came about because until 1984 there was only 1 business open here called The Brewery which manufactured beer direct from kegs! Nowadays whiskey can also be bought here too... but I won't go into that story anymore! ;)

Today, Murrysville remains an important center for economic development within Lackawanna County and is home to several businesses including two grocery stores and a post office that continue to serve customers well into present day.
Murrysville was once a small town in Radnor Township, Pennsylvania. It is now a ghost town and census-designated place (CDP) located in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. The first settler in Murrysville was Nicholas Fenton, who arrived in 1790. The community was named for Colonel John Murrys, a Revolutionary War soldier and delegate from the area to the state government. In 1812, Colonel John Murrys donated land to the township for public use. The township's first school opened in 1816. In 1868, the community became part of Armstrong County when it was created by order of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. In 1890,murrysville had a population of about 100 people; by 1910 its population had shrunk to just 10 individuals. By 1940 it had all but disappeared from map offerings and only remains as an unincorporated community today
