Murrysville is a small town in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1787. The first settler in the area was James Murrys, who built a cabin on the present-day site of the town in 1789. At the time of its founding, Murrysville consisted of just five homes and three stores. The first gun that was manufactured in Murrysville was an 1824 Smith & Wesson revolver used by Federal troops during the Mexican–American War. In 1851, John Cockerill opened a store and pistolsmithing business in downtown Murrysville which soon became one of the leading firearms dealers in America. In 1871, Elijah Rankin began manufacturing ammunition at his store on Main Street. Ammunition production continued until 1959 when it merged with Armoury Incorporated to form Coriolis Arms Company Incorporated (later known as Crosman). In 1973, Crosman merged with Brownells Corporation to becomeBrownells Group plc (later renamed Ruger Holding Corporation). Today,murysville retains a significant role within American gun culture through its population of historic firearm collectors and shooters who have collected guns from throughout history and continue to do so today. The town also has several museums including the Jemison Museum of Firearms Collection which houses over 150 firearms from throughout American history; local historical society; and Beasley House Museum which contains items dating back to 1800s including cannons from Fort Pitt

It is named after John Murry, an early settler and namesake of the village. Murrysville was founded in 1784 by Captain John Murry and his family as a small trading post on the Monongahela River. By 1821, it had become a full-fledged village with a school and store. In 1827, Captain John Murry's son Benjamin established what became known as "The Green Gables" tavern on Main Street in present-day Murrysville. This establishment served as the nucleus around which subsequent businesses grew and prospered until its closure in 1924." In 1881, Captains John Fenton and James Wills purchased land north of present-day Murrysville for development into what would become known as "The Gables". This project proved to be one of great success; within five years, The Gables had grown to include several buildings that still stand today including the Administration Building (now known as First Unitarian Church), which was built in 1885; Mrs. Klingensmith's Store (now called Kranz & Sons Bakery); and Mr. Kranz'ssaw Shop (now known as The Woolen Mill). In 1906, Captain William Hogue donated land east of The Gables for use as a township square; this square now features two large gazebos that were added in 1926 and 1987 respectively. On November 16th, 1912,Captain Joseph Pellerin dedicated the first section of what would later become North Park Cemetery located just east of present day South Park Drive/Route 309 near mile marker 20 on US Route 11 West . At that time North Park Cemetery coincided with much larger Cypress Lawn Cemetery located south of town proper on Manor Road/State Route 309 where residents burial continued until 1946 when all burials were moved to North Park following passage of legislation providing for state government control over cemetery lands
