Murrysville is located on the Susquehanna River and has a population density of . The first Europeans to arrive in this area were French traders and missionaries who arrived in 1682. In 1759, John Murrys built his log cabin on what is now known as Main Street (now State Road 61). He was one of the early settlers of Murrysville. On October 20, 1800, John Murrys erected a wooden frame house on lot #6 which he named "Merrymount". The house remained in use until 1867 when it burned down. In 1827-28, Isaac Morse built a sawmill on the Susquehanna River near where Main Street and West Second Street intersect today. In 1832-34, James Weir bought property upstream from Morse's mill and started to build an addition to the current building which still stands today - called Weir House - that became known as Weir Mill Village. In 1835-36, David Hilbert purchased land east of Weirs mill from James Weir and began construction on what would become Hilbert House which remains standing today next to Muller Road (now State Route 601). In 1840-41, Job Forrester moved his family from Lebanon Township into rural Berks County and started foraging for subsistence around present day Murrysville. Forrester's Cabin still stands in rural Berks County close to where he established himself about two miles southwest of present daymurraysville along Schuylkill Creek near present day White Sands Rd., just east of junction with PA 611 northbound; this evidence suggests that Forrester continued hunting well beyond his original boundaries following his discovery of game country within reach by car or horseback riders since there are no other authentic contemporaneous accounts describing such activities within these boundaries at that time or any later period! Forrester likely did so because he could not afford horses or carts during those times due to high transportation costs associated with then new technology including railroads! After establishing himself as a successful forager/trapper hereabouts he may have decided – like many others before him –to settle permanently in this area providing ample opportunity for peaceful coexistence with Native Americans living hereabouts should their hostilities arise...If so then we can assume that mainstream European perceptions about natives living hereabouts during this time were not overtly hostile but simply inaccurate based upon available information extant at that time." The first school in Myersville was opened September 3rd 1870 by Mrs A Fiskehardt who taught five children under the name "Mrs Fiskehardt's School". Thereafter school was open every morning except Sundays until 1902 when it closed because teachers became unionized. The second school opened January 8th 1903 by Mrs L E Hamerty who taught six students between 9am-12pm under the name "Leroy Hamerty’s School". From 1902 until 1915 there were no schools open during daylight hours due to World War I; however after Mrs Hamerty died young her husband Leroy took over operations leading up until 1920 when both schools reopened together as one building according to modern usage thereby continuing uninterruptedly through World War II😎 . Mr Leroy Hamerty passed away circa 1975 so Mrs LEEHARTY continues operating split times & mornings only now👍🏼
