Murrysville is a small town located in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. Murrysville is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Murrysville was John McMahon who arrived in 1781. He and his family were farmers and early settlers of the area which included present-day Butler, Philadelphia, and parts of Westmoreland and Allegheny counties. In 1801, John McMahon's son Daniel built a mill on the Susquehanna River near what is now Murrysville. Daniel also owned land east of where Parkview Drive exists today. In 1814, Isaac Murphy set up a sawmill on the Monongahela River in what is now Greencastle Township. In 1827, James Murphy moved his father's sawmill to what is now Murrysville from Greencastle Township to take advantage of better transportation connections between those two townships. By 1830, James Murphy had added a gristmill to his business empire with mills located at Belleplain (1830), Derry (1832), Monroe (1835), McKees Rocks (1836), and Woodside (1839). As more people settled in the area around Butlertown and Parkview Drive, businesses began establishing themselves along those routes as well: White Sulphur Works established itself on Belleplain Road in 1841; A & H Ferry Terminal opened on Parkview Drive in 1865; Brown Shoe Brick Company established itself on Belleplain Road between 1860-1962; American Carriage Company built its first factory on Parkview Drive between 1905-1907; PNC bank opened its doors on May 12th 1915 at 515 ParkVIEW DRIVE IN MURRYSVILLE! The post office that same year became known as First National Bank of Butlertown before being renamed PNC bank again in 1984 after it merged with Citizens Trust Co., Incorporated.. Murrysville was a small town in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was incorporated as a borough on March 3, 1814 and ceased to exist as an entity on July 1, 1846. The town is now located in the borough of Northampton. The first settler in Murrysville was Ebenezer Murrys who arrived in 1796. He built a cabin on the present site of Northampton Township's Old Village. murraysville post office opened in 1800 and continued until it closed on November 25, 1922. After being abandoned for years by its original settlers, Murrysville was platted out by Nicholas Derryberry and others from Kittanning Township on December 5, 1821. At first only two-thirds of the land consisted of standing trees; however development proceeded rapidly with help from Quakers and other religious groups which donated land for mills or housing developments. By 1830 most of what is now Northampton Township had been developed including the village center where Daniel Webster walked daily to work at his father's tannery before becoming US Senator from New York (1824-27). In 1834 John Prentice became the first white man to purchase land east of Beaver Dam Creek at present day Southowne Shopping Center when he acquired 8 acres (3 ha) near the creek's outlet into Westmoreland Township

In 1907, MurrysVILLE became an incorporated village with a population of about 900. In 1925, the village merged with the neighboring borough of Oakland to form the current city of Pittsburgh.
