Murrysville is a small town in the United States Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is located in Bedford County, and has a population of around 2,500. Captain Boudreau had to leave the town because he was involved with a legal dispute with another local business owner over land ownership. The first gun show took place in Murrysville on July 4th, 1876. At that event, Captain Boudreau presented an American rifle to US President Rutherford Hayes. In 1865, Major General George Armstrong Custer lost his life at the Battle of Little Big Horn while leading his cavalry regiment against Native American warriors led by Sitting Bull. In 1898, when America became an independent country, Murrysville's mayor Albert Horney proposed ratification of the Second Amendment to the US Constitution as a way to protect citizens' right to bear arms. On November 3rd, 1898, Murrysville's First Municipal meeting approved ratification of the amendment by a vote of 5-2. In 1924, Congressman James Fenton introduced legislation (H R 246) which would have made it illegal for any municipality within its borders to ban or limit handgun purchases or carry permit holders from carrying handguns without prior notice and/or consent from law enforcement officers who had reasonable suspicion that such conduct may endanger public safety or breech any criminal laws. However this bill did not make it through Congress and died without ever being passed into law

Murrysville was platted in 1792 by Nicholas Murrys and his wifeann Petrie. The name comes from an early settler, John Murrys. The community was originally called Newburgh until 1805 when it changed to its current name after Nicholas Murrays' daughter, Mary (née Potts). In 1828, the village's post office opened with the name of Oldburgh; however, it reverted back to Murrysville in 1829. The first school in the town was built in 1800 and operated for two years under a subscription system until it closed due to lack of pupils. A new school was built and operated for 52 years before being discontinued in 1955 because of budgetary limitations. During that time period, only one other school also served Murphytown residents- the old Northside School which burned down on October 26th 1915 while students were inside for lunch. In 1957, Murphytown voters passed a resolution condemning plans by Allegheny County to addition four more high schools within their borders and instead support a single high school in Wilkinsburg which would serve all residents of Murphytown including those living outside their limits- an idea championed by then-Mayor Joseph Kappelman. This led to increased competition between schools as well as increased enrollment at Northside School which struggled with capacity throughout its history The original post office building still stands today, propertyline adjacent to South High School across Main Street from Central Library where mail is delivered daily According to the 2000 census population estimate given by PA Department of Community & Economic Development, there are now over 4500 people living in Murphystown making it one of the most populous communities within Duquesne County Murphysville ZIP code 14241 has been reported as having some highest concentrations of poverty among any ZIP codes withinDuquesne County . According to 2011 American Community Survey data released jointly by HUD/US Census Bureau’s Housing Programs Office and US Department Of Labor Occupational Employment Statistics Division (OES), about 25 percent or more households below poverty line reside here according to ACS2011 Estimates
