In 1828, Congress passed a bill creating the Allegheny County Districts Committee system for political subdivisions within Pennsylvania. As a result, Murrysville became part of the newly formed Allegheny County district. In 1861, Murraysville become an incorporated town when it passed an act to do so from McKeesport Township. On February 15th of that year, Mayor James Smedley presented petitions for incorporation to the Allegheny County Commissioners Court which voted 3-1 in support of incorporation into the county government. On October 1st of that year, local physician Dr Samuel Goudreau set up shop in what is now known as Goudreau's Drug Store at 514 Main Street in Murraysville with help from local businessmen John Crouse and Andrew Mellon who contributed $5 per week towards its establishment along with other donations from individuals throughout the townspeople including Reverend Elijah Hickson (a Presbyterian minister) and Mrs Ann Eliza Gibson (a woman who had moved from Canada). Milton Hershey built his chocolate factory near Uniontown while production continued at nearby Goudreau's Drug Store until 1906 when Hershey closed his plant due to competition from Nestle AG's Swiss Chalet operation Thereafter Goudreau's Drugstore operated as a general market grocery until 1951 when it closed again due to lack of business interest among post war Americans In recent years 4 Sheet Metal Work has been established at this location providing employment for many people during construction projects around town
