In 1753, Pittsburgh became the capital of Pennsylvania; Armstrong County was split from Duquesne County and incorporated as part of Pittsburgh. By 1815, most of what is now Armstrong Countys old towns had been abandoned due to disease carried by Native Americans across the Allegheny Mountains into what are now more densely populated areas such as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh; only a few small villages remained including Murrysville. It wasn't until 1828 that a post office was established in what is now Murrysville; at that time it was known as Burtonsville because two farmers named Burton operated a post office there. Murrysville's early years were difficult due to its location on an important trade route between Pittsburg and Baltimore; however, through hard work and perseverance, murrysville slowly gained some stability over time. At first land prices were high due to lack of production or scarcity but with development came lower costs which led to increased prosperity for all involved. One unique aspect aboutmurrysville is that it still has many original buildings from its pioneer days including several schools and churches which remain standing today despite changes over time (e.) This period saw great growth for agriculture in Armstrong County so much so that mills exported raw materials such as flour from here back intoPittsburgh!
