After the war ended, Munhall experienced rapid growth as a result of its strategic location: just east of Pittsburgh and west of Philadelphia along Route 26 (the old Ohio Turnpike). Beginning in the late 1920s and continuing through to present day, Munhall has seen significant development due to its importance within both local political subdivisions (and even outside them) and its global reach through its role as one stop on Interstate 875 heading south from Philadelphia into Washington D.C., via exit #2A off I-875 near Monroeville Junction.
